Festering Sore - Chlorine for the Gene Pool

Vicious, fucking ugly, evil thrash. I like it. - 78%

UltraBoris, August 13th, 2002

I have really one overwhelming complaint about this album. The act of eating feces is called "coprophagia". I have no idea what "corprophagia" is. Eating dead feces? But the song isn't about that, it's about shit in general.

The best part (or worst?) of this album is that the vocals are perfectly well understood. You can hear everything Lance Boyle has to say, and my friends I must report that they are not pretty thoughts.

That's okay, though, if you want little puppies, go get little puppies. This album is for those that want to FUCKING THRASH, and FUCKING THRASH WELL. The songs definitely have a Venom/Possessed vibe at times, while at other times they sound more bludgeoning, in the vein of an Exodus or Vio-lence. Furthermore, nicely done lead guitar work abounds too, courtesy of Ivan Kutchakockov.

The highlight of this album has to be the title track - all out brutal ass-kicking face-tearing getting-fucked-by-a-pig thrash (go look at the album cover, I can't make this shit up if I tried)!! For the benefit of the listening audience, they start the lyrics off by announcing proudly that the song is "THRAASSSHHH!!" before going on a total fucking rant about killing humans and laying waste to them and then killing some more. Ahh, what fun. "Need to make the gene-pool crystal clear. So kill some mother fuckers!!" Oh and a monster middle break that would snap Dan Lilker's spine in half.

This album is just plain funny as fuck. Not in the overt SOD style, where it gets boring after three listens, this album keeps staying really interesting. The riffs, of course, help. Riffs abound, not unlike a Coma of Souls or an Eternal Nightmare. The guitar tone is also really fucking great - raw and malicious sounding and not at all overproduced. The highlights have to be the aforementioned title track, and also "669", "Satanic Priest", "Festering Sore" and so much more. It's 73 minutes of insanity. I won't quote any more of the lyrics, because I leave it up to you to get this album. It's only 5 bucks from Lord Vic.

unsungheroesrecords.cjb.net - not often that I point people right to the fucking source, but it's that good. Aside from the aforementioned corpse-phagia foul-up, this album completely owns you. One of the best thrash albums ever. Easily the best thrash album of the past 10 years.
