Incriminated - Miracle of Purity

weed smoking blackened misanthropy - 100%

optimuszgrime, February 12th, 2008

This is the wasteland of music. Nothing can grow in these dismal conditions that bears any sort of complexity or variation, the only thing that can survive these harsh and abysmal conditions of toxic fumes and nuclear desolation is the pure primitive barbarity that Incriminated provides. The songs lurch forward, at times breaking into a punk tempo double time, but mostly just staying in a comfortable slow-mid tempo driving riff. The whole music feels like it is on the verge of dying at any moment, this is the most nihilistic, misanthropic piece of music perhaps to ever be written, the only thing that is more nihilistic is Goatvulva. And they are playing noise, Incriminated plays music for sure, but it’s just so abysmal, so repulsive, so hideous that you just go away feeling like your insides are infected with hate and lethargy. A great piece of misanthropic musical experimentations. You can also hear the weed smoke floating around the rehearsal room on this recording, and it fits perfectly with the toxic abandoned atmosphere.

Miracle of Purity - 97%

If you ever have heard any other recording by Incriminated and liked it even a bit, check this one out. Miracle of Purity is definitely the bands best effort so far. Crushing in it´s old school filthness and culminated by it´s excellent, varied songwriting, this is a classic album.

The opening song Disemberment of the Pure has – as the album as whole does – great, strong bass-lines and a ace, sick guitar solo. This may be the best Incriminated song – and album opener – ever. Evil Aggressor, which follows the first song, is a short, minute long outburst, while the Prayer slows things down for a while until fast, thrashing part. Fast only in the scale of this long play, though, this is not blast beat -filled record. “Thrashing” could also go with quotation marks, as thrash here is played with ultimate death metal touch and sound – no technical nor modern shit here.

After two mid-tempo songs and faster track, We Spread Horrow, “Miracle of Purity” turns into different direction. Two last tracks (the b-side of LP version), Death´s Triumph Over Life and Lowlife, are both circa eight minutes long. The bass lines got strong position also on the six first tracks, thanks to bass-orientated mix, but on the last two songs, they rise into leading position. Accorded by simple guitar and drum beats, the bass lines bounce nicely giving welcomed variety to Incriminated´s songs compared to your average old school death/black act. The last minutes of Death´s Triumph.. include also such work on solo guitar that any poser with so-called technical skills can´t understand – honestly, when it comes to feeling and sense of style, this album have some of the best solos ever.

As the album slowly fades out with the bass lines of Lowlife, the listener has heard some of the best 40 minutes of heavy metal ever made. It leaves a kind of empty feeling when listening with care – an effect that not many albums are able to do. As the CD is still quite easy to pick up, I see no reason why any fan of underground metal would not crap this one into one´s collection. Essential!

Thrashing Brutality! - 95%

On "Miracle of Purity" you will find nothing more than half hour of old-school thrashing madness in the vein of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost. The music is very old-school and simplistic, here is nothing modern like blast-beats or keyboards, just mid-paced THRASH with very extreme vocals (in part similar to Obituary's vocalist, but more blackened). Something special about this album is that the bass guitar is on the front on the mix, leaving the guitar in the background, making it very original, also the sound is very clear. The last two songs are very long and have some slow sections, making them the best on the album, but all the songs here will kick your ass. If you like Thrash Metal like no one make it today, this album will leave you begging for more, it's one of the best Thrash albums I have heard from the 90's, and it comes from one of the best labels of Underground Metal (NORTHERN HERITAGE) today, so buy it now!
