Illogicist - Polymorphism Of Death - 75%

Harachte, October 23rd, 2004

On Its' first release “Polymorphism Of Death”, Illogicist (great word!) brings us technical death metal that’s easy to listen to. And that is remarkable.
“Technical” often means taking bizarre rhythms and other deviating varieties way to far, so listening to a technical band isn’t always easy for me. Illogicist manages to change that by interspersing the songs on this MCD with catchy riffs (“Warped”) without violating its' roots.Tight and with a reasonable production the band ploughs through three strong songs of which the second, “Visions Of Decay”, reminded me briefly of a forgotten band like Americas Revenant during its' “Prophecies Of A Dying World” period
An enjoyable debut that should give the band a shot at a deal…
