Dungortheb - Intended to... what? - 73%

Dungortheb? What an odd name. Wait a minute… let's turn around the word… no, that sounds even weirder. Oh well… I'll use a searchengine… aha! *Sighs*… Another cheesy reference to Tolkien's "Lord Of The Rings". Does it never end? You don't associate such a fantasy name with a Techno-Death Metal band easily, but that's what Dungortheb is, a French Death Metal band in the technical vein.

"Inherited to…" (Inherited to…what?, but that's besides the point) is the debut album of these four Frenchmen and it contains all ingredients to be a good one: variety, tight playing and more leads and solos you can muster. And the vocals (a somewhat monotonous, superficial grunt) don't sound too bad either. However, the over-abundance of leads result in a sort of overkill because after a period of time some tracks begin to sound similar to one another. This album has a clean production and is just very suitable for the occasion although I miss the raw edge to it, it's too bad the bad-triggered bassdrum sounds just utterly powerless.

That's all I have to complain about really, but I want to emphasise that I think Dungortheb will kick ass live a lot harder than on CD.
