*RooT - Dema*

This is a 2 CD collection of RooT's early demo's and some live material.... Really raw primal stuff here which at times reminds me of hellhammer/Celtic Frost or maybe even a hint of old Hirax in places (this is alot thrashier than their later stuff).... The major negative point for me is that everything is sung in Czech, that and it sounds like Big Boss hadnt found his rather unique vocal style yet since the vocals are mostly black/death oriented (there are hints of the style to come however)....

RooT's penchant for atmospherics is clearly evident even on these early demo's despite the music being more thrash oriented.... The doom influences which are more prevelant on their later material are also present and there are various parts where they seem to be experimenting with different sounds and ideas especially more acoustic passages....

For the RooT completist this would probably be a must as it would give them a chance to hear their humble beginnings but if you really like RooT's later stuff there is a good chance you would not care for this....
