Terrorama - Omnipotence

Inseminated with Thrash! - 100%

MrLapinKulta, January 6th, 2009

Ever since I first got aquainted with the more brutal forms of thrash metal, at the age of 7, through hearing Kreator's Endless Pain I've been a sucker for the most extreme of aggression. For the last 22 years I've been on a constant look-out for new extremes in metal and while I've found some cool bands along the way, in all different genres of metal, it's still thrash that instantly appeals to my primordial instincts. Lately we've seen a resurgance of the genre but sadly most bands seem to be doing nothing but rehashing what Exodus and their likes did some 25 or so years ago. I'm not saying that they all suck but truthfully most of them do. Merciless Death and Avenger of Blood have long been at the top of my appreciation list but the number one spot is now reserved for one band and one band only. Namely this monumental thrash legion from the frozen wastelands of Sweden, simply known as Terrorama. A fucking brilliant bandname methinks and a fitting one as well!

The band has apparently been around for quite some time already (their first demo was in fact released back in 2002) but for some reason it has taken me until just recently to become aware of their existance. Terrorama are, in lack of a better description, a metallic bastard found somewhere in between old-school thrash and 80's black metal. Think the 80's; think Brazil, eastern Europe and Germany and you might be able to mentally approach what they're all about. As a devote fan of all the mentioned "scenes" I can't help but fall helplessly for Terrorama's relentless attack. I particularily fancy the vocals which remind me a bit of both Volker Fredrich (Necronomicon) and Hellbutcher (Nifelheim). The delivery is absolutely ferocious! It's practically impossible to pick out any favourites off this album as they're all bloody brilliant but I can assure you that there will never again be a "thrash" compilation cdr made in this household that doesn't include Perversion Extol!

Terrorama is certain to appeal to any fan of extreme old-school metal as well as to fans of say Nifelheim and Watain. Best album post y2k? In my book the answer is a resounding YES! The 100 rating is even on the small side.
