Sabrax - Devilsspear

Dark, Occult... bad production - 85%

sir_imbecil, June 4th, 2004

One-man band Sabrax presents "Devilsspear", which is a unique piece of Black metal with a dense, occult, satanic atmosphere, resulting altogether in an original, yet very raw black metal album. The songs that best capture these characteristics are "Shadow Palace", "Shizoid Trance", and "Seviens Inerundas Disharmonia", which clearly represent the feeling of the whole album. The arrangements of a heavily distorted guitar along with the piano and synthesizer background create the distinguishing sound that Sabrax represents. I admit the pruduction could have been better (regarding audio quality) but it's definitely an album worth listening to, perfect for those fans of raw black metal, additioned with symphonic layouts. The whole album carries on with the same atmosphere and sound, which many may find boring and monotonous, but each song has its own character and feel... hopefully this man keeps up with what black metal is originally all about...
