Vicious Crusade - Forbidden Tunes

The most interesting album in my collection... - 81%

Metal_God, June 15th, 2003

First of all I don't know what kind of metal this is. Is it heavy? Or goth? No, it's a combination. I would maybe call it regular Metal with gothic, folk and power influences.

Vicious Crusade has two singers, a male and a female, and a violinist. This makes the band very interesting. It sounds completely different from anything that has been made earlier.

Vicious Crusade uses a style of song-writing where they usually don't have a chorus that sounds very different to the rest of the music. You can't really hear where the chorus is. That is not necerssarily a bad thing, but the worse songs have that kind of problem.

The album has many good songs, all very interesting to listen to. Among the best songs are...
Forbidden Tunes - the first track with beautiful contrast between the male and female voice.
Lost Generation - a great melody which you can listen to again and again.
Messiah...Isn't It Me? - pretty slow, but not a ballad. Really nice...
Let It Burn - Very good chorus. Thta's what makes the whole song, the rest feels rather simple but are still pretty good.
Dancing on the Ledge - Long track with silly chorus, but the rest is excellent. A great guitar solo and a trumpet solo(!).
Vogue - which I find is the best! Great contrast between female and male voice. Sounds very beautiful. Different...

Forbidden Tunes has many great songs, but also some weak (Requiem to Innocence is horrible). Still a very interesting album that is hard to find, but worth looking for.
