User Ne - Tarantos

Yeah, they're good.... - 96%

NocturnalToke, September 30th, 2005

I really don't know many people who know about User Ne, not to any degree of surprise either. I don't mean they're not capable because they certainly are...it's just two things holding them back. One being their apparent shitty label and management and also, the fact that they don't sing in the viral language aka English.

Tarantos is a very special album in that I really have NEVER, EVER heard anything like this. A completely unique voyage within the realm of pagan themed folk/viking metal. The song arrangements are a bit unusual, as well as the unique male vocals. They can go from a relatively high pitched raspy yell, to an almost troll like growl (weird description i know, but thats how it is). The female vocals are really nice as well, not overproduced like shitty Nightwish, but rather a soothing accent to some brutal, experimental music. Female vocals are always a treat in a band like this, if not only for their symbolic presence, often depicting visions of beauty and redemption amidst a world of chaos and evil.

User Ne is compromised of a multitude of very skilled musicians who obviously work as a very cohesive unit throughout the song writing process enabling all instruments (wind, string, percussion, vox) flow as one giant machine and the result is simply breath taking. I don't want to ruin the songs for everyone by analyzing them to death, but I will say that "Viola Dobozy" is certainly the highlight track and serves as a wonderful centerpiece within this very strange yet beautiful album.

Any fans of soulful, powerful, brutal folk metal will absolutely adore this album. I highly recommend it!
