Dark Age - Insurrection

Chaos of Gods - 80%

Znarglaxe, May 1st, 2003

When i first picked this album up i did not know what to expect. It did not look any different or amazing based on the cover alone, and the songnames sound relatively like every other song by every other band. However, all thoughts of monotonous gaiety halted when i heard the first track, "Trial By Fire". It blew me away, how it comes in with the odd, very muffled blast-beat.
This CD is worth every bit of money you might spend on it. Combining all the intricacies of MDM without the typical Gothenburg handjobbery.

THey make a sound of their own, with songs like "Chaos of the Gods", and "Fearing Tomorrow". Frankly, i would say that this is one of the superior MDM bands, and this CD shows it. If you are a fan of bands such as Norther, (Amok era) Sentenced, Without Grief, or any band like those, this is a band to check out.

My only problem with this album is that a lot of the songs get a little too slow for how they "are". They start off nice and fast with a good little line going and then they slow down, and that makes the majority of the cd. Kind of reducing it to a slow, boring, trudging pace you can do nothing with in any way.

A few problems, but an excellent effort. 80%
