FUKKING EVIL!!! - 99%

GoatRitual, June 9th, 2006

An intro that's epic as hell followed by "Northern Hordes", a black metal continuation of might, violence, and raw recording. Not a single recording they have produced since this demo has reached the limits of this. Although the debut album was close and strikingly similar in the way of song breakdown and construction, the recording on this one cannot be topped. Unique and with loads of potential from this British Columbia based two-man project. Oblak on hammers and Othalaz on strings and voice.

Later the album produces more destruction with "Wolf's Kin", providing onward blastbeats with the sledgehammer effect accompanied by the parallels of bass and guitars. Walls of noise create similarities between riffs used earlier and later on in a particular song.

"Everlasting Winter Winds" starts off with epic blastbeat black metal in the vein of the early Norwegian scene without any sort of mature, non-minimalistic attribute. The vocals pierce the ears. The music is cold and raw. Quite minimal use of technicality is the driving force to the creation of atmosphere.

With the birth of this cold black metal comes the final step in the progress of this album, titled "Warmoon" which is as parallel as the others, with more piercing throat work and rapid finger strums.

This demo was later once more revived by WarSpirit Records in 2002. Although its original place of ritual was in the apartment or basement of Oblak, more copies were awarded in this process. Unfortunately it is still as rare as ever to find. Godless North later released another demo, followed by the debut album and a live album in 2002. Godless North also released a 12" split with Chemin de Haine, a black metal band hailing from France. The band has now split, but the eternal flame of this Vancouver band will live with the ashes of Blasphemy.
