Dissect the Coroner - The Red Handed Victim

It Isnt Half Bad...At All! - 80%

rhoadsfan, March 1st, 2009

I was lurking around Metal-Archives and their name interested me so I decided to check Dissect The Coroner out.

These guys aren't half bad. The music tends to lean on the melodic side of things with plenty of metalcore styled riffs but there is still plenty of death metal influence to keep things brutal. There also seems to be an authentic NYHC influence in these guys as well, I really dig the gang vocals in A Battle For Lives. The absence of pig squeals in also a major plus in my book because we all know pig squeals suck ass.

The lyrics are not the most well thought of and kinda generic but who fucking cares! The musicianship is awesome. If bands like Lamb Of God and Hatebreed can get away with stupid to downright shitty lyrics why cant these guys? Not that you can understand Dissect The Coroners music without reading the lyrics.

In conclusion I suggest all fans of metalcore, deathcore, and melodic death metal to go out and give this EP a listen. These guys have potential and I would love to see their record on a store shelf someday.
