lie from a truth ...thruth from a lie ... - 75%

Another good surprise in our scene; EVIDENCE, after somewhat struggle in the deep deep underground decided to put hands on the work (since the Portuguese labels didn't...) and recorded and are distributing the debut all by themselves. The work was recorded at Rec n' Roll Studios (Oporto), property of thy master of Portuguese production, Luís Barros. The result is a splendid heavy metal delivery, although with several touches of TARANTULA (because they are EVIDENCE's favorite band, right?), energetically performed in the 13 songs. The band composed by Sérgio Sarino (vocals), Vasco Martins (guitar), Pedro Antunes (bass) and Rui Lino (drums and percussion) fits almost perfectly the melodic heavy metal label: the long and technical guitar solos are there, melody is a constant parameter, the voice a typical heavy metal one (not distorted, grunted or whatever). And this release appeared in the best time, since the scene (specially the international one) is with their eyes put on the revivalism - power and heavy metal, granting EVIDENCE's a little bit more exposure and opportunity to show their potential (for what I´ve read, they behaved very well when replacing the odious MAGO DE OZ). From their own pockets, the band also produced and recorded their own clip for this «Truth From A Lie», which proves that their are not joking around. So, if you really enjoy a good heavy metal album, don't be afraid to put your ears on EVIDENCE, because they're good at what they're doing (and they know it) - you won't regret it! Even if you are not totally into the heavy scene, go ahead, listen to them, since this demo is well worth. I almost forgot, the layout of the CD is great, very blue but really great
