God-awful even by NSBM standards - 0%

detrimentalist, December 17th, 2022

I don't think I've ever listened to an album so shockingly bad it made me want to rip my ears off until now. While the NS scene in black metal has a few good bands, such as Grand Belial's Key, Peste Noire, Drudkh, and Goatmoon, Aryan Terrorism is NOT one of them. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that this is the worst black metal album in existence. It's certainly the worst I've ever heard.

Starting off with "Jewish Provocation" *sigh* Oh boy, you already know where this is going. Like most tracks on this album, it's bland and generic. The riffs are boring, bog-standard black metal riffs with bad production and some influences from rock against communism, an equally shitty genre, the drums play generic blast beats, and the lyrics are full of bullshit nazi rhetoric about the "Jewish new world order" and how "Our sun was stolen by the Jews". Fun stuff like that. I guess I could cover the rest of the songs, but they aren't really that notable. The production isn't good, but it's not necessarily bad either. It tries to go for a "rawer" sound, and while it's certainly raw, the downside is that everything sounds muddy, and the bass is completely inaudible. The final track is a boring 6-minute slog that I can't talk about much because every time I try to listen to it on Bitchute (of fucking course it's on there) it never loads properly. I can only assume that it has the same raw production and generic song structure and riffs like the previous other tracks. Generic edgy lyrics about war do not make you sound serious. Nobody's gonna take shit like "hurr durr hUmaNiTy deSerVEs wAr!!1!" seriously. We get it, you love LARPing. Speaking of lyrics...

Lyrically, this album is so bad it's comical. Some of these lyrics are so utterly cringe that you wonder how Varggoth wasn't embarrassed to sing them. 4chan-esque edginess and hatred, most likely. I get that Varggoth's native language isn't English, but he could have at least put some effort into writing. "Crush The Lies" is a diss track against a whole slew of different black metal bands, including Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Marduk, Behemoth, and so on, including some choice words about Ihsahn. You can probably guess that they're not the best at coming up with roasts and insults. We've got such classics like "Dimmu Borgir are fucking clowns, gays, venal bitches. They all sell their asses for a gram of heroin. Explode the bomb on their gig?" Varggoth also expresses his distaste for Marduk, referring to Panzer Division Marduk as "Motherfuckers division Marduk". And I don't get why they had to diss Ihsahn. What the hell did he do besides convince everyone that wearing a turtleneck sweater was trve kvlt? "Ihsahn, bald headed freak from “mystic” Emperor" Well that's pretty rude.

When it's not dissing other artists, or dissing the Jews, this album is also egregiously racist against black people, calling them the n-word in the song "A National Socialistic Call", with lyrics such as "Where you fucking niggers are!?!" Yikes. The track also calls them monkeys, subhumans, and "black skin swines", along with saying "They are in the government – it fucking sucks!" which sounds like something a middle schooler would say. These lyrics are so comically terrible and over-exaggerated that you'd expect them to be in an album parodying NSBM.

Saying that this album is horrible would be doing Aryan Terrorism a service. It is tremendously bad, a tasteless mockery of black metal as a whole. The production sucks, the instrumentation sucks, and the lyrics are like Sarcofago if they were white nationalists instead of satan-obsessed perverts. At least Sarcofago did the whole overly edgy thing right, this is like listening to a braindead Stormfront user vomit his ideology into your earhole for 40 minutes. Perhaps it's trying to be Sarcofago meets Johnny Rebel, but it fails at both. Don't waste your time listening to this album, and don't waste your money if you have any desire to buy it, not that any level-headed person would willingly finance a nazi.

Have you ever listened to an album that just... made you speechless? Like, an album that is so terrible, so abysmal, and so unbelievably abhorrent in its themes and musical presentation that you don't have anything to say on how bad it is? Because ladies and gentlemen, we got ourselves a BAD one in our hands. And in this case, we're talking about a band called Aryan Terrorism, a black metal band formed by Knjaz Varggoth and Olexiy Horbov of Nokturnal Mortum. This small group released one album simply titled "War" before disbanding sometime after. And folks, if you thought you've heard the worst from NSBM, then you haven't heard nothing yet...

So, we start things off with the song "Jewish Provocation", and just from the title alone, I can already tell we're gonna be in for a bad time. But let's try and put the politics aside for a moment and focus on the music in of itself. The guitars play some fast and raw riffs that do take a bit of influence from RAC, the drums play some fast and chaotic blastbeats, and the bass is inaudible and easily the weakest portion of the track. Okay, this sounds standard, and that's kind of the problem here. Much like with that Aryan Blood compilation I reviewed a while back, the instrumentals sounds extremely standard for black metal and don't offer anything new. And when it's not being painfully average, it's painfully awful. Like, in some tracks like "Destroy the Church of Christ", the guitars sound off, and give off this really poor sound that only makes these already bland instruments even more horrible. Literally the only "good" thing with the instrumentals is in the track "A National Socialistic Call", where there are more RAC influences in the riffs, and the more rock and roll orientated composition does add a little bit of personality in the track. However, I'm emphasizing the word "little" in that last sentence because it's still mostly standard black metal that feels weak, so I can't even count that as the album's only saving grace. When you get down to the instrumentals, they have some of the most bland and generic styling and composition I've ever seen, and it makes Sabaton sound original in comparison.

But I digress. This album might not have the greatest instrumentals, but surely, the vocals will be better, right? Well you'll be wrong. Remember when I reviewed Dark Funeral's "Angelus Exuro pro Eternus" back in my review series for the band, and I criticized the vocals for being generic? Well, multiply the generic vocals by a thousand, and add in some horrible shriek effects as well. That's basically the vocals in a nutshell. Throughout this album, the vocals try to sound big and scary, but it sounds too generic to have any personality, and it doesn't flow well with the instrumentals. And I'm not going to begin with the screams, as they sound horrible, and not even in the cool black metal shrieks way. I mean, it's obvious that the vocals has no idea how the scream! I'm not sure who's to blame for the vocals, since it's unknown who did who, but either way, this is easily the worst vocal performance I've ever heard in black metal.

And then there's the lyrics. With a band that's called "Aryan Terrorism", it's kind of expected that the lyrical themes on this album are gonna boil down to "Nazi's good, minorities bad". But they can't even get that right! To see what I mean, let's take a look at this excerpt from the track "Our Banner Swastika!":

We have to take a choice – Freedom or slavery?
z.o.g exterminates us one by one
by imprisoning us and killing our
leaders but we are Aryan people
Our banner – Swastika!

So, they believe that "ZOG" is exterminating the white people, and that they need to band together under the swastika to stop them. I guess ZOG is suppose to represent a Jewish government, but even in this context, it doesn't feel like the white people are in actual danger. The lyrics reek of over-exaggeration and overall, come off like some 14-year-old edgelord from 4chan wrote them. And as if that wasn't enough, take a look at this lyric from "Crush the Lies":

Dimmu Borgir are fucking clowns, gays, venal bitches.
They all sell their asses for a gram of heroin.
Explode the bomb on their gig?

This verse basically attacks Dimmu Borgir by calling them clowns and advocating for one of their gigs to be bombed. Yes, you heard that correctly. This band, which used to n-word in one of their songs to attack black people, also made a diss track on multiple symphonic black metal bands including Cradle of Filth, Emperor, Kovenant, and even Marduk and Behemoth! These "disses" are so childish and horrible, that I couldn't help but laugh my ass off at how hilariously horrible they are at dissing these bands. Unfortunately, the rest of these lyrics aren't like this "so bad they're funny" quality. Instead, they're all nothing but horribly written white power and pro-Nazi crap that doesn't benefit the album in any way, shape, or form.

You know, I feel like I need to apologize to Aryan Blood for being too harsh on their compilation. Not that I think AB is good now, but clearly, that band put more effort into their music than Aryan Terrorism did. I mean, everything about this album feels wrong in general. The instruments are wrong, the vocals are wrong, and the lyrics make me wanna vomit. It's a good thing this band died out after their first and last album, because who knows how bad things could've been had they continued on...

A mistake like NSBM as a whole - 2%

Kumorto, September 14th, 2020

Where do I start with this mess, I'm pretty sure everyone knows that Varggoth is a racist POS, but at least Nokturnal Mortum is good. This is on the other hand laughably bad. This is a clear case of putting politics before the music. Most NSBM it feels like that but this just so mind numbingly boring it's the most generic and basic black metal/black thrash. I can't believe this is the same guy who is behind Nokturnal Mortum.

I feel that this abomination of an album has so many problems, one of the most glaring issues with this album apart from the lyrics is the lack of substance in the instrumentation, more specifically the fact of how generic it sounds it's just boring, there is nothing special here, it lacks soul and has nothing going for it. In the end, yes it’s black metal but that does not mean its good, it’s like nu metal in a way (bare with me for a second), in Nu metal there where a very small handful of bands that did something interesting and new, and the rest are just boring and “If we just do this one thing we will get big”. That’s what this album feels like, they don’t understand Black metal and they wanted to pump an album out and instead of doing something interesting or improving upon already existing ideas, they just made a boring, generic black metal album.

The real highlight of the stupidity of this album is the song “Crush the Lies”. I'm not going to bash all the poor English on this album, but the lyrics here are some of the worst. There are many attempts at insults but they all sound like a middle schooler on a video game after they were killed. When you have insults like “cradle of shit” and “Dimmu Borgir are fucking clowns, gays, venal bitches.” How am I supposed to take you seriously if you write bullshit like that. If you want anyone to take you seriously even in the slightest you should at least pretend to have the mental capacity of someone above the age of 12.

Another thing I find laughably bad is the whole Nazi shit, I will never take Nazis seriously especially when they can barely write a competent album.I did not expect anything much of this but I was still somehow let down. The only reason I can see someone buying this is if they agreed with the morals shown in this album.

If you want to hear what Varggoth is capable of, skip this and listen to Nokturnal Mortum. You will be happier and will not of wasted your time listening to Nazi rhetoric and nothing but that for thirty six minutes. Boring, Repetitive and Hateful (In a bad way) are some words I would use to describe this album.

War - 15%

EvilAllen, November 1st, 2017

Aryan Terrorism were a black metal band that spoke of very unrelenting lyrics, based on National Socialism. Now, I don't have an issue with black metal bands or any bands that use National Socialism in their music. Everyone's entitled to have their thoughts of the infected world, in which we all currently inhabit together as a race (unfortunately for many). The band themselves can pull off some decent musical-based structures, sure, but the audio is so unbalanced from the foggy production, it's just hard to hear anything clear enough to observe what is going on in the tracks, but lets give it a try!

Okay, let's move on, especially to some more bad news. As I mentioned, the band can pull off decently-constructed music, but the band really are terrible though. The audio fabrication is nebulous. The drums sound like they're pounding off of some morbidly obese, fat-ass sumo wrestler. I couldn't even begin to imagine how many drumsticks would shatter from constant abuse, just from hitting that huge whale-gut. It's like the sound of the sticks themselves are being absorbed by soundproof waves or something. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, they sound fucking feeble, not crisp, clear or clean. It's like listening to the drums while covering your ears with a pillow, possibly earplugs if you're really a wimp.

Another thing, the band's sound effects are fucking godawful, they must have really been hurting for some ideas because those are shit, too. Instead of creating a National Socialism band, they should have created a depressive black metal band. It would have made sense, you might as well feel all-depressed while listening to this. I know I'm feeling depressed from observing it. I should probably kill myself now. I wish the band would have, too (yes, in a physical sense, of course). Instead of creating this miscarriage. In fact, calling this a miscarriage is an insult to all miscarriages!

Moving on, now for some decent points of the album before pointing back towards more negatives! Now, the the guitar and bass construction is rather nice. It sounds traditional, medium-paced and creative. The guitars, as usual, have the primary, high-toned theme as the normal riffing style that you notice from typical black metal bands as well. Even with the dreadful audio production, the bass actually sounds powerful enough where you can hear it through all the instruments. The bass rumbles like a thunderstorm in the distance, except no one fucking cares. You could even describe the bass sounding like a nuclear missile that North Korea launched and (failed) to hit the United States with. I figured that would have been suitable to suggest, considering the record is entitled "War".

Time to talk about the lyrics. The band members would have been better off creating a comedy group in Hollywood rather than creating a black metal project. The band must think they're fucking funny but the only funny thing is, is how pathetic they're trying to be at creating National Socialism themes. If you're going to write about National Socialism, then please do it better than this. I mean, come on, it's like an angry white student from an abusive household that goes to high school in Detroit because it was the life this person was born-into, who wrote these trashy-ass lyrics. All the band does in this record, is bitch and complain about all the world's problems and how they would like to fix it. Instead of doing something to actually fix it (physically). And attacking other bands in their lyrics, yeah, that's really mature, eh Aryan Terrorism?

The vocals sounds like a poor version of the fictional character, in which Tim Curry played, known as "Pennywise the Dancing Clown". Only real differences are, Aryan Terrorism's attempt fucking sucks, and sounds like the vocalist is shouting from disappointment from not devouring children, like in Stephen King's novel "IT" (expect the book is actually good). At times, the vocalist sounds like a shittier version of Varg Vikernes from Burzum, and Nattramn from Silencer.

All I'm really understanding from the band and this record, is a great sense of hatred for the world because it's not what they would expect to be perfect. Well, humanity isn't perfect to begin with. If things were perfect, then we wouldn't have a reason to feel so angry at the world. I think some bands, like this one, are happy being absolutely miserable. The band must think they're tough by swearing in most of their songs or something. I guess it makes them feel like they're in high school or shoving some helpless nerd into a locker and walking away from it, who knows?

All-in-all, the music sounds like something even a rundown circus wouldn't broadcast. It's basically a joke to the endth degree. And these phoney-ass, bipolar clowns are a bigger laugh than the music itself, considering they're the jokers who formed it (sadly). Don't forget to "toot" your noses, you comedy fails! Aryan Terrorism members should be prohibited to ever play black metal music again. Legally, I mean. From a court of law standpoint. That's how dreadfully they butcher the genre. I'm glad they aren't around anymore. It's a shame they even existed at all to begin with.

No, I don't think I would suggest this to anyone. Maybe I would write it on a piece of paper and keep it on the bottom of my list if I were to suggest it to someone I hated beyond belief, but why would I even waste my time talking to wastes-of-flesh for? I guess the most suitable kind-of-people I could possibly suggest this fucking masterpiece (sarcasm) to, are dead people. They never argue, they don't listen and they wouldn't give a shit about this garbage. Hell, they deserve to rest in peace, not roll in their grave and be tortured by eternal noise. I'd rather have an infant cry into my eardrum until it fucking popped! This creation (or disaster) could seriously raise your blood pressure to a deadly level. Don't ever, ever consume your time listening to this..."thing". Consume your time by creating some macaroni art, at least it's constructive and won't piss you off as badly!

This is Garbage - 5%

psychoticnicholai, October 3rd, 2017

This is probably the biggest piece of shit to ever come out of the Ukrainian black metal scene. I already knew about Varggoth's disgusting NS worldview when finding out about Nokturnal Mortum, but I never heard him take it very far beyond a few token lyrics, even on the musically slapshod and noticeably racist-symbol-covered album NeChrist. This is, like most Nazi music, about pushing their retarded agenda moreso than actually making decent music and it shows as this is repetitive, simplistic, sycophantic, propagandist, boring, and insufferably bad black metal with abysmal production and even worse songwriting as everything is lunkheaded and boring. There is some variation from song to song, but for the most part, it's primitive and unengaging to the point where you forget what you're listening to unless it happens to be unusually bad.

There is a reason for all of this being so garbage, and it has to do with the fact that unlike Nokturnal Mortum which is known for grand melodies and massive, powerful soundscapes, Aryan Terrorism is supposed to be primitive, raw-ass black metal with a strong ethos of bad far-right punk (hatecore). As such, this music is as simple and braindead as these guys could have made it. Everything is done with only a minimum of effort and the guitars are very sloppy. The first song begins and you think it's going to be filthy and punishing for about the first two minutes and then it just turns out to be filthy, and not in a good way. It just ends up being just shoddy and boring with the simplest riffs and tremolos possible repeated over and over while trying to sound gritty with Varggoth shrieking his polemics at the top of his lungs like a pissed off goblin. This whole album reeks of laziness. This is so lazy that one of their songs rips off a Burzum riff. "Our Banner Swastika!" rips off and butchers the riff from "Stemmen Fra Taarnet" to make it come with less of a punch. This obvious lack of giving a shit causes any music to suffer, but this just seems even more insulting than usual. Especially as these two dolts probably think of themselves as "übermenschen".

The only songs with any memorability on War are the ones remembered for being particularly wretched and worthless. "Crush the Lies" is hilariously horrid with these clowns calling out other black metal bands and just calling them "gay" and "perverts". That's right, this is a black metal diss track. I can already hear you groaning. The funniest parts of the song include where he tries to tell us why Marduk are "businessmen" and just calls them "Motherfuckers Division Marduk" like some meat-headed gym class bully. He just slings insults and sexual slurs everywhere like a posturing child. Other funny bits include him calling Cradle of Filth "perverts" for some reason, and accusing Isahn and Emperor of becoming Israelis. That's right, Varggoth and Saturious shit on one the bands that probably influenced Nokturnal Mortum the most in this shitty, plodding gag of a song. Another notable stinker is "A National Socialistic Call" where this turns into straight up punk rock and tries to be bouncy while screaming racist slogans about "niggers" in the corniest and most irritating way possible. These songs are the most memorable songs that Aryan Terrorism can offer and they are memorable for being terrible. The rest is just bland, badly performed black metal with brain-dead Nazism strewn all throughout the lyrics which have grammar worse than an old Sarcófago song with none of the heat.

Stay away from this garbage. You've got dull, sloppy guitars, Varggoth screaming idiotic diatribes like a drunk who never shuts up, lyrics that are just as brain-dead as you'd expect from Neo-Nazis, as well as a songwriting style that is just beyond simple and uncreative. If repetition, simple riffs, racism, and being an idiot are attractive ideas to you, then this is something you might enjoy. However, the sane among us would be quick to stay away from this plodding pile of goat vomit. Variation is minimal and this does nothing to either get or keep your interest. This is just repulsive and boring. I'm glad that this band isn't around anymore, and Varggoth and Saturious went back to making some music of actual merit in Nokturnal Mortum instead of embarrassing themselves with this crappy propaganda.

Laughably bad - 3%

Lars_Stian, February 6th, 2017

When I first listened to this album, I already had extremely low expectations, yet I was still disappointed by just how bad this release is. And as if that wasn't enough, when I read the lyrics, I literally laughed due to how bad the lyrics were.

The music itself is boring and predictable, and sounds incredibly uninspired. The lack of originality is almost impressive, as the riffs are among the most generic riffs I've ever heard. It sounds like something a twelve year old would write after playing the guitar for a month, thinking they're some kind of musical genius. Initially, I wasn't able to even listen to the first half of the album, simply due to boredom. It's actually hard to describe the sound, because no matter how many times I listen to this failure of an album, it's just so forgettable I can't seem to recall any of it. For the most part, from what I remember, it's just tremolo picking and bland progressions. It's almost hard to focus on the music due to the horrible fake drums, they just sound so fake it's unbelievable. The vocals are actually decent, they sound quite powerful and aggressive, however that is the only positive thing I can say about ''War''.

Now I usually don't mind bad lyrics, but holy hell, these lyrics are terrible. I mean honestly, with lyrics such as ''Where you fucking niggers are!?!'', ''Dimmu Borgir are fucking clowns, gays, venal bitches. They all sell their asses for a gram of heroin. Explode the bomb on their gig?'', and ''Shoot the niggers, Shoot them fucking all, A National Socialistic Call'', it's hard to ignore just how terrible they are (and no, I did not make those lyrics up, they really are that bad). I mean, come on. If you are going on a racist, hate speech rant, at least use proper grammar, otherwise you just look like a complete imbecile.

''War'' is the worst album I have ever heard in my entire life. The lyrics on ''War'' are the worst lyrics I've ever heard, and the riffs are the most bland riffs I have ever heard. The album just feels so rushed, and it is as if the sole purpose of the album is to spread their idiotic ideas and ideology with their badly written lyrics. I would not recommend this album to anyone; I would actually recommend most people to never even try to listen to this bad excuse of an album.

Horrible in every sense of the word - 10%

DaBuddha, December 22nd, 2011

By now, every black metal fan knows about this album, or at least the most "infamous" song featured, that being Crush the Lies, with its scathing lyrics proclaiming the selling out of a few other BM bands. This is/was a side project of Ukrainian black metal band Nokturnal Mortum's vocalist Knjaz Varggoth and keyboard player Saturious (also of said band). I stumbled back upon this album when I was listening to some Nokturnal Mortum songs on Youtube and this band came up. Now, forgetting Crush the Lies, when one digs deeper and listens to the whole album, you will find that this song, and all the others, offer nothing but horrendous amounts of garbage, with a stench so vile that not even rats and flies will touch it. As one could guess from the band name and song titles, this is a National Socialist "Black" Metal album (you will notice I put quotations around the word black and I'll explain later), but instead of the normal tripe associated with that BM offshoot, you are greeted to an even lower form of depravity. This may as well be considered the biggest joke in the history of heavy metal. I'm not opposed to anti-judeo lyrics so much as I am the ignorance they are written with, nor am I a supporter of politics creeping their way into black metal. I mentioned before about the quotations around the word black. Let me ask this simple question: can this album even be called black metal? I have a hard time believing so at times, because there is nothing black metal about this. Anyone can use harsh vocals, blast beats, and tremelo-heavy guitars. Do these things necessarily make a band BM? No, and this is all the proof you need.

I think the first thing you will notice is the lack of good riffs found on this album. Sure, there are a few decent ones scattered throughout the duration of this crap, but good luck sitting through all the bad to reach the good. When I say good, I don't necessarily mean really good. I mean salvagable in that they are decent, but need some work to become good. I honestly don't know what Varggoth was thinking when he wrote these songs. Obviously he was thinking about his immense hatred of the Jewish population, but when writing the music did he forget what makes his main band so damn good? It's the almighty RIFF, the very thing that attracts us, the fans, to this form of music in the first place. Anyway, let's just say that this was a huge mistake. I'm pretty sure the drums you hear are programmed, so you know you won't find anything special, in fact, they are as you would expect: bad. I can't tell if there's any bass, but would it really matter anyway?

Now comes the absolute worst part of this album: the lyrics, and oh, what lyrics are there to behold. Now, I've read some pretty bad lyrics in my day, but these take the title of worst ever. I know Varggoth (and I say him because I'm pretty sure he wrote them) is Ukrainian and English is not his mother tounge, but that doesn't mean you can't put some effort into writing in that language. It's as if he scribbled down some words, mixed them up, and then proceeded to put them in a completely random order, calling it a song. Why not write the lyrics in his own language? I'm sure they'd have proper grammar and I wouldn't have to see how horrible they are. It's not only the grammar that is appauling, but the overall scheme. The song A National Socialistic Call features the word "nigger" roughly fifteen times. Can you be anymore amateur than that? It's not that I'm offended by these things, but I loathe stupidity, and that's what this project seems to be based on.

I honestly wouldn't recommend this album to anybody. It's not catchy, it's not well written, it's certainly not any good. It is merely in exsistence, and that's nothing to be proud of. I gave this a score of 10 because of the few salvagable riffs present, and even that may be too high. I'm actually surprised Varggoth and even Nokturnal Mortum have been able to live this down. I guess people have short attention spans. Avoid this at all costs. It's not like you'll be missing anything.

Substandard Generic NSBM as usual. - 45%

Foret_Noire, February 2nd, 2005

For those who are unaware Aryan Terrorism is one of the countless Varggoth projects circulating in black metal, and to be perfectly honest this album is nothing special by any possible means. Varggoth's NSBM band, Aryan Terrorism, features nothing innovative or different from all of the panzerblutkriegs that are flowing through this NSBM trend bandwagon. It's basically racial music for ANUS kids to sit around and listen to because it makes them feel rebellious with retarded lyrical content (most of which are focused on making jokes about jews and such) and nothing at all special. I'd rather fall asleep to Varggoth's Mistigo Varggoth Darkestra 72 minute insomnia curing virus in black metal than this generic NSBM/Hatecore album featuring the same cookie cutter ideals and aesthetic contents. On a musical scale, this album isn't anything special. Usually very generic black metal with some additional hatecore riffs that make me want to swing my hips around more than a behemoth album. The music is simplistic and generic nsbm bands, which is not very surprising. A lack of creativity in lyrics, idealogy, aesthetics, and every other portion that this album is made out of. I don't think i've heard anything so lackluster and uninspired bullshit. I don't recommend getting this album for any purpose. Complete waste of time, and money.
