Punk Anyone? - 56%

Metalli_Priest, June 1st, 2004

Well, this album doesn’t really fit into my niche, but it is definitely catchy in a casual sort of way. It is pretty much straight up punk with a few other elements creeping in. Some Motorhead punkish-speed metal moments and the almost-crossover thrash of nuclear assault.

The riffs are up tempo and catchy while not being terribly complex, but they lack continuality and progression as most songs are around the 2 – 3 minute mark. The lyrics are delivered in the speedy almost-spoken manner, and cover topics such as ‘love’, ‘drugs’ and usually ‘nothing’ (like all punk does) surprisingly neither the vocals or lyrics come off as overly annoying. The drumming is pretty much generic (like it should be). That is, it keeps the rhythm flowing without doing anything too out there (or anything really stupid).

There are no real ‘choice picks’, as most songs stick to the same formula, although here is also a cover of ‘I fought the law’ which is decent.

Yep, this album is pretty much follows the guidelines of a typical punk release. I occasionally still pull this album out for a quick listen, but it really has no lasting value. Oh, I bought it for $4 and wouldn’t really recommend it for a higher price.
