Warkult - Perseverance of Aggression

WARKULT "Perserverance of Aggression" - 89%

calhoun, December 9th, 2006

Intense, raw, American made death metal from the ice cold wastelands of West Virginia., and featuring Dusk of Harvist/Typhus on drum destruction. Powerful and innovative, this cd is a throwback to the days when death metal meant Slayer and Kreator as well as Suffocation and Morbid angel. Lead screamer and guitarist Draconis ‘s vocals are a dead ringer for Kreator main man Mille’s , while riffs submerged in the sounds of “Hell Awaits” and early death metal and thrash abound, admittedly with a savagery and bite which are purely modern in scope. Hardcore and elite in the extreme , Warkult carved a pathway back to the roots of the genre while re-defining it along the way. Intense, blasting and memorable as hell.
“Perseverance” their one and only cd , saw Warkult creating a new genre of modern death metal alongside such stalwarts as Angelcorpse and Cobalt And setting a new standard for American black and death metal that was as far away from the childish corpse fucking and brain eating of most modern gore and grind as one could possibly get. Now disbanded, this cd still stands as proof that Warkult were truly the elite!
