Hatework - Madbent for Disaster

Simply thrash till death ;) - 74%

makaze, October 15th, 2004

Italian thrash metal band Hatework was formed back in 1996 by Max (bass/vocals), Lo (drums) and Marco (guitar) and they have spend a lot of time together in the band. Even today, the lineup is the same. Next year they have recorded their first demo-CD, which was never released, due to the problems with promotional agency. After they overcome those problems, guys started to work on new materials. In 2000 new EP was released - "Thrashers' Attack", and was sold in nice 500 copies. A year after, "Italian Thrash Metal Assault" was recorded and distributed through Witchhammer Production. In 2002 a first full-length album was recorded - "Madbent For Disaster". With 9 songs and a bit over 36 minutes of music, "Madbent For Disaster" represents good old thrash metal album, with it's roots in 80's, powerful riffs, fast drumming and all other elements characteristic for this genre. Production is good, but nothing special. Inside their thrash sound, Hatework have incorporated some melodic death metal influences, as you can hear in "Madbent For Disaster" and "Deeds Of Hate", At The Gates-inspired songs. Nice work, with lots of energy and fast parts. Although title track is my favorite "Tomahawk", "Total War" and "Dawn Of The Dead" are pretty good as well. Sometimes aggressive, sometimes melodic with hard rock influences and great drumming. I must say, these guys know how to compose good songs. Max's vocals are good, but sometime they sound awful. If you love this kind of metal, you should be checking out Hatework and their debut "Madbent For Disaster" - you'll be blown out with the energy and will have a nice thrash metal album in your collection.
