Helgrind - Fallen Prophet

*Yawn* - 37%

Visionary, October 7th, 2007

Helgrind play a style of heavy metal similar to bands like Paragon and Agent Steel. They use crunchy riffs that are quite speedy but not thrashy. Sound interesting? Sure does to me. However everything about Helgrind is just mediocre.

The riffs are just your average chug chug with a tiny bit of diversity but not enough to warrant my attention. Occasional solos are thrown in but they are kind of slow and un-technical. The vocals are raspy shouts that hardly vary in tone or pitch. The vocalist has two different pitches he uses but that is it. Hardly any range. The drummer here is also very mediocre. He seems to just bang on the snare at a constant rate that is quite midpaced while banging constantly on the bass drum in time with the guitars.

The track, One Solution shows a bit more variety and actually has some decent solos but a single track is not enough to save this release. And that is pretty much all I can say. Everything is just average. Now go and listen to Agent Steel or Paragon instead.
