Frost - Under the Hungarian Blackmoon

Very raw, Very quiet, Very hissy... - 85%

WhenWolvesReturn, September 18th, 2004

I'm not giving this a very good review for a couple of reasons. Even if it is a demo, these guys could've tried a little harder to turn up the volume. Inaudible drums, bass, and nearly inaudible vocals don't make up for the fact that this just blatantly sucks. There's more stops in the guitar riffing then I've ever heard in one place, and I hear a few beats of what sounds like someone smacking a bongo with a mallet until the head breaks (which would signify the end of this demo.)
If you dig through it, and turn it up very loud and somehow get passed the hiss, you can hear a keyboard! Oh glorious merciful crap a keyboard! I'll admit now that the guitar/keyboard combination sound glorious, if only the drums could be a bit louder and I could hear some bass. At some points it sounds like the drums are a drum machine (which they very well could be, considering this is a demo.)
The guitar work is very good, but choppy, however you can tell that the guitarist and keyboard player are both very talented, especially in the second track around the 3:45 mark.
If the vocals could be a little louder, they'd probably be perfect, as the singer sounds like a desperate slave trying to get out of the gallows and has been overcome with anger and hate for his captors.
*Conclusion - Look, this is good, it's just too damn quiet. I know it's a demo, but Jesus tapdancing Christ on a crutch. I got this for download because I couldn't find anyone with a copy.
