Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition - Inventory of Fixtures

Orgasmic Riffs and one of the best Albums of 2007 - 100%

Raptor45, February 12th, 2009

Why hasn't this album received critical praise of being the best grindcore album of 2007? That's the question here. There should be a long, stemming answer that leads to that. That being, "because too many people have their head up their ass with other bands". This is honestly some of the best material to ever be featured onto a CD. Every song packed with musical ecstasy and blistering destruction is better than the next. You'll be holding onto your head for dear life not to be ripped from your neck from the intense amount of headbanging that will ensue.

French grinders, Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition (or S.C.D., much easier to say), have evolved an insane amount and broken down the Eiffel Tower to mere shit. From their previous efforts of sadistic, poor production albums "I" and "II", "Inventory of Fixtures" takes this band to its very limits and rips a hole in the throats of every listener. The new take S.C.D use on this album is the best career move they could have done. Now combining Grind/Groove/Thrash/Gore/Crust/Punk into an orgasmic blend of sweet oozing chaos. This album defies all the boundaries of those genres. Hell, I consider this one ground breaking and record setting. As soon as "Armchair Generals" begins, you are in for the ride of your life. The production is top notch, as are the musicians.

Riffs, riffs, and more riffs. Catchy, unique, creative, ferocious and just fucking incredible. It's crunchy, memorable and in your face. In pure 100% honesty, every single song on this album has a riff you won't forget. It gets stuck in your head, and all you want to do is play it over and over again. It is combined with unique gutteral spewage of vocal attacks, frothing screams jam packed with insane shrieks, and what sounds like throat cancer. The championship drum beats, played by session skinsman Dirk Vanbeuren (Aborted, etc.), shine through out this album with great furiosity. Dirk creates nuclear explosions all over his drum set, with absolutely psychotic drum fills and helps S.C.D. add more talent and creativity to their barrage of songs.

This is hands down, in my opinion, the best album of 2007. What more could a rabid grindcore fan ask for? Even if you don't like grindcore, you'll find some essence of this album lingering around you, and you'll enjoy it.

I feel like I could make this review into the size of "War and Peace". It's honestly worth that many pages. If you ever pass the chance to hear this album, that will be a regret for the rest of your life. I have never head-banged or moshed around as hard as I have to the songs on this album. It'll rock your fucking socks.

Best Tracks - Everything. (but if I actually had to choose, I'd say "Go Forth and Multiply".. the ending is jaw dropping)
