Metal dedicated to the Master - 98%

MaggotMan, April 19th, 2009

I got the tape version of this album about a month ago, and played it in a rather weak tape player, and didn't find it too interesting, so it sat around for awhile, until last night, I played it again on a better player with bass boost, and thought to myself, "fuck, I could have been listening to this for weeks." Simply because it's fucking great. Everything about the music is rather simple, but in a good way. The pace is usually somewhat slow or midpaced, in a few songs going a bit faster. The voice is quite sick, not too typical, even though I've heard countless black metal singers, I think his voice works great for the music, possessed and powerful. The drums are heavy duty, booming thuds, pounding on the round altars of Satan. The guitars are heavy duty as well, with good catchy rhythms, to bang your head to. Look for the fucking MONSTER riffs in the song "Thunderbelial," which is maybe my favorite song. Maniacs will drool and murder over those riffs. It's been said this band has a rock 'n roll vibe, but I don't hear it too much on this album, maybe only the simple rhythms. I will say this is BLACK METAL, no doubts.

The bass is heavy, yet again, in some parts there are bass solos, dirty and raw. The lyrics are simple as well, in many songs you'll hear words like, Satan, evil, Lucifer, darkness, which is fine by me. Worshipping the Master doesn't need to be too sophisticated. This album isn't for wine sipping intellectuals, but for primate Satanists.

If you're seriously into black, just get this album. I think it's still around.
