Blood Duster - Lyden nå

It's A Rock N' Roll Jihad, Don't You Know? - 100%

ReaperMan69, July 10th, 2008

Blood Duster are one of the most amazing genre defying bands ever and it's a shame that no one seems to have heard of them because trust me you're missing out. I love all the Blood Duster albums and EPs, from their early grindcore days to their more recent rock / death output. I do prefer the later more rockier stuff present on the Cunt and self titled album (wasn't as huge a fan of Str8 Outta' Northcote). The problem has always been that while the grindcore stuff is good in and of itself it kind of ruined the effect when mashed in with the rockier stuff and it was hard for their albums to work as a whole, what I'm saying is that I'd much prefer to listen to albums like Fisting The Dead (grindcore) and Blood Duster (predominantly death / rock) than Cunt (a chaotic mash of the two), which as awesome as it is fails to work as an overall album like the other two do, and this is still relevant to the self titled album to a lesser degree.

With Lyden Na Blood Duster have rectified this by designating each style its own disc (and could someone tell me where this "father, son and unholy ghost thing comes from, because i own the album and can't find that written on it anywhere or in the booklet). Each disc is a masterpiece in itself, I was quite impressed with the 2nd (grind) disc, which easily held its own against Fisting The Dead and the 3rd disc, which must be downloaded is a solid if novel doom / drone, slow, single heavy as fuck riff that goes on for 20 minutes. No Complaints here. However, the undeniable achievement of Lyden Na is the 1st (rock) disc. Now as I said this is my favorite side of Blood Duster so I am biased somewhat but with this being the obvious direction that the Duster was heading over their last 3 albums and being that this style almost entirely comprises their live set it is no surprise that this is the albums highpoint.

Another element that sets Blood Duster apart is the overwhelming sense of humour that is ever present, and on this album it's reaced a highpoint with tracks like "MySpaceYourFace", "RockN'RollJihad" and "SlowAndLonginga".

I can't fault this album at all.

The best tracks are: 1st disc; "MySpaceYourFace" "3Ohh7Ohh" / all of it; 2nd disc; "RapedWithATyreIron", "TendonsSlicedForTransport".
