Great Grindcore - 88%

Earthad1000, December 4th, 2006

My friend introduced me to 324, saying that if I liked Discordance Axis, Swarrrm, or really any grind band that I’d like them; he was right. While 324 brings nothing new to the genre, they do a great job of refining it. The album is extremely consistent, no low points and no tracks that I’d skip. While some of the tracks do tend to blur together, it’s Grindcore, what’d you expect? Everything fits perfectly; a nice part of the band is they really allow you to ‘savor’ the really fast, blast beat parts.

With Napalm Death-like guitars that weave a whirlwind of noise, a thick sludgy bass providing a wall of sound, deep throaty vocals familiar of crust and old school grind, and a great mix of punk-like drumming and blast beats 324 manages to create a powerful and brutal sound. Each musician seems to be on top of his game: the drums are lightning quick and incorporate a nice mixture of different beats and fills, the guitars for the most part keep that wall of sound going, but here and there they stand out with a really nice riff or even a solo, as stated earlier the bass is very thick and sounds like a bulldozer, and the vocals fit perfectly for a really in your face ‘street’ feel.

Overall this is a solid album, a great addition to any metal head’s collection. While clocking in at only 24 minutes, in most cases this would be a complaint; but there is nothing I hate more than a grind band that makes songs too long and boring. The album is full of energy, every song kicks your ass, and I can only imagine what they’re like live.

My favorite tracks are Moc, Swinging skull, and Disgusting Flower.
