Shifted The Shape: Brutal. - 100%

spcialsofttouchpupet, June 22nd, 2009

This album should be that definition. My personal best death metal album ever released. It’s really interesting that this is a completely unknown band. This album is the best because all of the instruments are perfect. They achieved a completely brutal sound I have never heard come out of my speakers before. A masterpiece is the best word to describe this album.

The guitar tone or guitar itself, I’m not sure which one, makes the sound incredibly sick. Palm mutes are scratchy yet refined and open palm mutes are well equalized. You can literally feel the riffs and understand what the guitarist was trying to get at. It goes along perfectly with the bass; which you can hear perfectly throughout the album. These guitar sections are fast enough to keep the blood flowing but not too fast as to become monotonous.

The drumming is very creative; it’s not too often that I actually hear what sounds like either a cowbell or the drummer clicking his sticks together when he’s taking a break. He does blast beats very well and at times that are not predictable, yet goes along perfectly with the music. All around the drumming has a cool sound to it, totally brutal. It goes without saying that the actual sounds used for the bass drum is amazing as-well, meaty an crunchy as can be.

I am blown away by growling and beefy tone of the singer’s assault. The nice thing is that it goes along perfectly with what is being played on the instruments. The singing sounds amazing. I typically do not like death metal singers but this guy is what death metal singing should be. None of that high pitched shrieking non-sense, just super brutal growling that most likely has some absolutely morbid subject matter to elaborate upon.

It is all of these things combined that make this album the best ever. When you put the amazing guitar, singing, bass and drums together with phenomenal mastering and production, you get a perfect death metal sound. I recommend this to anyone as a true testament to how brutally twisted dark minds can put together something putrid. There really are no words to describe the overall atmosphere of this album but I could taste their sound it was so thick. Put the cd on and you'll be able to cut their sound with a knife and serve it's vile flesh on a plate.
