Babylon Whores - Deggael (A Rat's God)

Indeed? Indeed. - 95%

This was my first ever Babylon Whores album. I was taken aback when i heard this album. While lacking the more melodic aspect, it has an epicness all to its own. Although, on songs like "To Mega Therion", and "Sol Niger", they demonstrate their ability to make their music epic and melodic at a skull crushing pace.

This album has only one song i do not like, and that is the beginning track "Dogstar", which is basically the last song, but it trails off, (why, i do not know). The Song "Somniferum" is almost a love song, but is sung with such epicness, and such flair for imagery, that it makes up for it's rather questionable sense.

"Sol Niger" (Meaning "Black Sun", not what some of you little 0 pointers might think), is another expectedly epic song about the fall of Carthage. It has a haunting melody, and rather raw guitars, and Ike's vocals on the album cinch what should not work together, and makes it work.

"To Mega Therion" is an extremely melodic song by them, with an amazing sweeping feel, that is of Doomsday, and his lover. A great song. Together with "Somniferum", "Sol Niger", "To Mega Therion", and "Emerald Green" and even the oddly haunting "Deggael: A Rat's God" are perfectly executed, even though some of their stuff is rather basic in the big picture.

Overall, i would say this album is an aquired taste. That is really all i can say as none of my friends have even heard of this band, so i have nothing to compare it to. Just go on my previous review for your idea of this band.
