Anthology (1986-2006)

This 2-disc compilation album will be about everything that the band Pharao brought out. I didn't ever hear about this band before I got this promo sent and after hearing it I knew why.

This is just one of those old (well, begin 90s) bands that didn't make it because their sound is just like thirteen in one dozen. Two albums with constantly the same pounding heavy metal songs, it just isn't worth your money. I'm not saying it's bad, but damn, their are already too many good bands within this genre which are actually worth my time. To keep up with Saxon, Priest, Maiden and some old school heavy metal bands is more than enough. If all NWoBHM bands for example would re-release all their demo's on one album (which a lot of them do actually), people will hear why not many bands within that genre made it through. Most of it was just copying and the bands with the best promoters, the best live performances and the most tasty songs made it through. Same goes for German mainstream heavy and power metal bands like Scorpions, Accept, Sinner, Running Wild, Warlock, Rage, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Grave Digger and Blind Guardian. Pharao is just okay if you're into obscure bands who made some good songs long ago, but nothing more.

If anything, Pharao is a band that made this compilation to maybe do some touring again, but in all fairness: this was really an unnecessary release. In this world of mass consumption releases like this really should be narrowed down a lot more...
