We Deserve Much Worse

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about grindcore - but I know what I like. I hungrily devour Nasum, Pig Destroyer, hell even Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and revel in all the loud, fast, groovy glory that grind encapsulates.

But this release, sadly, is lacking. It's pretty much a side project from the Rotten Sound (who, I think, are awesome) guys, which is itself is a spin-off from ...and Oceans. This album starts off well, with tracks such as "Deceiving Shortcuts", "Revolutions Against Nothing" and "Connected to the Confusion" providing fast, groovy fun, with a nice production, killer drum work and meaty riffs. But then the next 13 tracks all do that too.

This album's problem is that it frankly gets dull. Every track is essentially interchangeable, and these guys never go experimental or electronic like the bands mentioned earlier were prone to do. No, they stick well within the grind boundaries, and never once deviate in the slightest, and that's why it's dull. Pig Destroyer's "Prowler in the Yard" had songs like Hyperviolet to blow you away with its experimentalism, but this album has SHIT.

Basically, it's cool if you take each song as a unique entity, but listen to the album as a whole, I can guarantee you will be bored by the halfway point - and bearing in mind this album is 32 minutes long, that's pretty uninspiring.
