Virgin Snatch - In the Name of Blood

The ultimate modern thrash album - 93%

Frostwake, July 28th, 2007

How can Virgin Snatch not have reviews? After reviewing NewBreed and mentioning them, I felt the need to talk about VS too.

So, what do we have here? Let's put it this way, if you like Horrorscope and/or Blood Tsunami, order it right now, if you don't, you're missing out on some serious ass-kicking metal right here.

First of all I want to describe the production of this album: absomindblowinglutelypowerful. THIS is the sound I look for in extreme metal albums, crushing and full guitars, pounding drums ( I have never heard a better drum sound in any album, period.), the vocals are mixed just right, not too loud or low in the mix, and even the bass has its moments!

As for the tracks themselves, my favorites are either the title track or "Bred to kill", both carrying amazing headbanging riff material (actually, that applies to the whole album), plus the rolling drums and chug chug breaks here and there, it's perfect. There is also a semi-ballad "You-know-where" which has a more commercial/modern sound, and although it isn't up the level of the other songs, they pulled it off nicely (I can imagine alot of bands failing miserably at this).
Oh and of course, don't think they forgot to add great solos either - everything is there.

What else is there to say about Virgin Snatch? It's currently my favourite thrash band, and I can't wait for a new album, although this one is only 1 year old, but who knows... I hope they get creative.
