Impure - Hemicorporectomy

Fleshh ripping violence! - 85%

bassbrutality, December 22nd, 2007

First time you listen to brutal Basques IMPURE the resulting feeling is like going 10 times on a roller coaster. If you feel that their first work Corpses ... Intense Stench was twisted, fast and sick, try out the last hand grenade IMPURE have thrown into your speakers. Hemicorporectomy is more brutal, more technical, and also less accessible.

I must admit that the first time I listened to this album, I felt slightly disappointed. IMPURE had undoubtly achieved speed and technique, but the record lacked the character some of the Corpses ... tracks had, like Woodworms or Sexual Eschatology, which even featured a video. The cd kept spinning for days, and many listens were needed to finally 'get it'. Do not expect an easy listening album: this one will slowly grow on you, until you fully got it.

Hemicorporectomy puts IMPURE on brutal death first line with carefully myocardial speeds and note-soaked riffs filled tracks. The crushing brutality of Priapism, the catchy rhythm on Surgical Antropophagouses or the frantic harmonic double picking on Intraintestinal Sarcoma are a sample of what we can find on this work. Guitars sound much more defined than in the previous album, what allows us to perceive every detail this psychopaths include on each riff (after some listens, of course. The drums have also added some rhythm variations, like the double bass progression at the end of Cain'nibal, although the blast beat is not missed in any track. Vocals are sick and filthy, and completes perfectly the instrumental work. On some parts it sounds like if they had taken a pig to the studio, cut its throat , and recorded the death squeals. Bass is the only instrument we miss a bit, mostly on the guitar harmonics, were so well did it sustain the notes on Corpses… They left it, however, a few breaks to remember us that it's still there doing its job.

Production, in general, is satisfactory, maybe not perfect but reflecting these butchers' music can not be an easy task. It's clear enough, so nobody will be able to complain.
Worthy to note the cover by Phlegeton Studios, which savagely illustrates a hemicorporectomy (translumbar amputation: pelvic, legs, urinary system…) as well as the booklet, soaked in blood and oxide. If you like the most brutal and extreme, you can not miss Hemicorporectomy, a present for every fan of Disgorge (Mex & USA), Pustulated… Flesh ripping violence!
