Feast of the Blood Monsters

I'm not typically one to complain because music 'appeals to scene kids' but seriously this is just retarded and it has to stop. Dance Club Massacre is yet ANOTHER one of those annoying post-Dillinger Escape Plan spazzy tech bands that every 16 year old kid in the world seems to be addicted to right now. There shouldn't BE any post-Dillinger Escape Plan tech metal bands because DEP DID IT BEST AND IT'S NOT GOING TO GET BETTER. In fact, just about ALL the other tech bands seem to reside at the same level of comfortable mediocrity, figuring (correctly, I might add) that if they throw together some annoying screeching, constant sweeps, random drumming, and maybe the occasional breakdown for kids to feel brutal to, they'll be on the road to superstardom. THEY'RE RIGHT AND THAT'S HORRIBLE!

Honest to god this is exactly what you'd expect from the post-DEP scene. Imagine DEP merging with Psyopus and losing any and all concept of songwriting, throw in some half-assed ambient sections designed to provide some measure of illusory variation, and you have 'Feast Of The Blood Monsters'. It's not that that mixture can't be done well, it's just that Dance Club Massacre does it in such a mind-numbingly generic way that there's nothing to say about it. It's the wet dream of every Iwrestledabearonce fan: stupid 'funny' song titles, stream of consciousness lyrics, technicality for the sake of technicality, and not a single remotely memorable moment scattered ANYWHERE on this disc. It's so fucking INSIPID, what honestly inspires people to listen to this and nod their heads and say "Yeah, this is the GOOD STUFF"?

Am I making this sound simple? That's because IT IS. It's nothing but random sweep riffs interspersed with the occasional chug for 'dramatic effect', blast-heavy, spastic drumming, and the same irritatingly high pitched vocals you hear in EVERY SINGLE ONE of these bands. There is no reason to listen to this because if you've heard any other modern tech band you've heard Dance Club Massacre and you've probably heard it done less terribly. This just sucks on every level and there's no reason at all to buy or even download this crap. This isn't about animosity towards modern tech/grind, nor some concept of 'scene kids', nor any other subcultural warfare: this is just lame and I can't believe I've wasted my time listening to it.
