Crystal Tears - Choirs of Immortal

Nice Old School Metal - 76%

Orklord, March 3rd, 2007

The scene in Greece is getting stronger and stronger. First I was only familiar with Rotting Christ, but soon I found out that there was a great traditional heavy metal scene. Bands like Inner Wish and Battleroar are big over there. Crystal Tears is also a traditional heavy metal band, but the difference with most bands is that they have a female singer.

Let’s get back to the eighties! Crystal Tears let you forget that you are in 2007, but brings you back to the glory days of heavy metal. The only thing that reminds you of 2007 is the clear and powerful production.

Crystal Tears let us hear a heavy metal sound as we known from the eighties. With Natasa's raw voice they manage to give their own twist to the music and gather an own sound. I have to notice that this is their first release with Natasa's and before they had a male vocalist, but I have never heard a song with him. Yet such a raw voice, but on the other side such a melodic one.

This CD consists of some great heavy metal like the catchy Rock survivors the epic Megas Alexandros (which is about Alexander the Great) and the mid tempo Sworn to Avenge to name a few. With a play length around 35 minutes the cd ends and put you back in 2007. You only wished you could stay in the past.
