Lehavoth - Hatred Shaped Man

death metal from Israel?!? what??! - 85%

SoulSeekJay, July 6th, 2004

Hailing from the Promised Land (unbelievable) these five guys present their first album with a totally unholy sound. Impressed. They are from Israel and recorded this album in Soundlab Studios/Sweden together with Mieszko Talarczyk (Nasum) and you can expect ten grinding and blasting pearls of mayhem!

The nine songs are introduced by a short mechanical and instrumental track and Lehavoth don't hesitate to start the destruction with "Ghost Nation" a grinding and death metallic smasher straight to the point with some heavy interludes, but most of the time they kick in your face with devastating metal riffs and a very thick sound.

They are able to create an overrunning mixture of death metal and grind 'cause they take the speed of grind and mix it up with death metal brutality. One of my favourites is "Iconoclastic", it begins with some heavy mosh riffs and continues with in-your-face metal and I really like the whole album of Lehavoth because they add so much brutality to their music, it's awesome!

They even have some sludgy passages within the songs that give the record more diversity. But they offer even some more surprises because they always throw in a lot of different sounding parts, variety is good and they change between those fast grinding parts, destroying metal, playful parts, staccato guitar riffs and even some black metallic stuff!

The CD also contains the video of "Non Civilized" and to top it all off, they added a great layout and nice artwork. If you like fast grinding metal you should dig it!
