I've not had the liberty to hear their previous attempts - but from the reviews, I'm not sure I want to. Luckily, this is the first thing I've heard by them, so I guess their highly unpopular and apparently really bad former releases haven't ruined them for me. Let me preface by saying the more adept forms of black metal, such as melodic and symphonic, are my favorite genres of music ever, not just in black metal. So I am going to be extremely critical of this release.

The album starts of REALLY strong with "Charagma." This song is spectacular. Very ballsy, lots of punch. It's got that real hard in-your-face feel. I could beat somebody to a bloody pulp to this song. I especially love that crazy harmonic thing they throw in there. That's probably my most favorite part of this track. You're probably wondering why I'm still talking about the first song? Well the rest of the album is kind of disappointing next to this track, and I'm procrastinating in talking about it. The rest of the album isn't really bad by any means, it's just a few steps above mediocre. The musicianship is dead on, the composition is pretty decent, and the album doesn't get repetitive. However, after I get about half way through, I just want to skip back to the first track, "Charagma" and then put something else on. It is just kind of boring, uninteresting, and uninspired outside of that first track.
