Fallen Breeze

Ah demo reviews, my favorite way to start off the week. Pick up a cd from some hopeful young band and listen to the CD a few times, decide I hate it and trash the demo, therefore ensuring the band never gets anywhere! God I love power AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Just kidding, kind of. Actually I really love this job, I get to review a bunch of bands that no one has ever heard of before, and once in awhile I discover something truly amazing. That brings us to Endangered Reign. They are not amazing, but they are definitely a catchy, talented band.

Endangered Reign plays mid-paced power/thrash and for the most part it is a lot of fun. Some great riffs are sprinkled throughout the album, the guitar solos are very cool and don't ever get annoying and wankish. The musicians are talented and write some interesting songs. The biggest problem is the lyrics: they are absolutely horrible. The second song "Never Fading" has some great riff work, but the lyrics are so incredibly dull the song loses all potential and ends up being a real stinker. This is probably the worst song on the album, but the rest of the album loses a lot of points with me because of the lame lyrical work.

The songs vary a little throughout the album, the first two are mid-paced thrashers, the fourth track, "Charlotte's Web" is a decent, not too sappy ballad. "Victimless Prey" is a heavy song that is once again ruined by retarded lyrical ideas. I don't think I've ever witnessed such clichéd, boring, stupid lyrics in my entire music listening career.

All in all Endangered Reign is pretty cool. If you can ignore the lyrics you are bound to enjoy the CD that much more. If the band is reading this, FIRE YOUR SONGWRITER! Start writing lyrics that DON'T SUCK. Follow this advice and you guys should do fine.
