Gorelord - Zombie Suicide Part: 666

Simplicity at its best. - 85%

FuckinBill, June 6th, 2008

This is probably the best album Frediablo has released to date. His first full-length was really good but this one just kicks the shit out of it. Now don't go expecting anything technical and crazy from Gorelords' Zombie Suicide Part: 666 album. This is just simplistic gore/death metal with crunchy (and catchy) riffs. It doesn't try to be anything it's not and it does say it's more then it really is. This album is blunt, straight forward and pretty easy to understand and like.

The album starts off with the song "The Stench Of Flesh Decomposing". The beginning sounds distorted like it's bad production or something. But that's only there to build up to when the song kicks in (and gets louder, mind you). Great main riff. Most of the songs have riffs like this. Don't expect too much diversity from this, riff wise. A few songs in and you get to a song called "Outback" which is totally different from all the other songs. It's an instrumental of a clean guitar playing some slow echoed tune. It's almost like an intermisson for the album. It may seem kind of random and out of place but I think it shows that Frediablo doesn't just have a one track mind. He's not scared to put something completely different in his music, even if it isn't really needed.

The vocals got a little better since the last album. He's doing less shrieks and more growls, better ones. Ones that aren't so black metalish. His vocal work has been improving with each album, including the ones after this one. Then again vocals aren't the top reason to pick up a Gorelord album. The drums are pretty solid, I can't remember if he uses a machine or not. Either way they fit really good with the songs and compliment the heavy guitar work very well. After listening to the album you might have a few riffs stuck in your head for a few days, so this makes the album very easy to keep going back to. It's just really fun to listen to, in the car, in the house, anywhere.

To sum this one up if you have the cash or even if it's the only cash you have on you, it's well worth picking up. If you're looking for something serious or technical, this ain't the place to look. If you want some good heavy shit to blast for a few days, this is the album for you.

Stand out songs:

"Dreams Of The Macabre"
"Shrieks Of The Undead"
"Cumfucked Face Of Death"
"I Am Master Here"

Zombies, gore, and horror - 90%

Gorelord's second full-length seems to be an excellent soundtrack to a horror movie. A really gory movie though. The music is mid-paced and quite rhythmical, the drums are meant to support the rhythm created by the guitar and they do it perfectly. Obviously, because of Gorelord's geographical origin, we would expect certain link to black metal... and there is not only one, but two. The vocals: Frediablo uses both high- and low-pitched vocals; nonetheless, the way he uses these vocals they might remind us of Maniac and Killjoy. These two guys play with Frediablo at Wurdulak, but I never expected the vocals to be so similar. I know for sure many persons do not like Maniac's vocals and therefore they will not like either Frediablo's; I don't at least. His high-pitched vocal style is two close to these other guys to be worthy all by itself. On the other hand, there is a song called "outback" that certainly does not fit the rest of the album; all this recording is a brutal mid-paced death metal release talking about gore, zombies, horror and "outback" is a slow, mild, melodious song, like the ones used as intros or outros on the black metal albums. Moreover, this song is placed in the middle of the album (four songs before it, four songs after it). It breaks what the previous songs were creating in the listener; it is quite an awkward and harsh song and it should not be there. Besides these two points, it is an excellent album that will not disappoint anyone looking for good old gory horror death metal.
