Venereal Disease - Mondo macabro

A Real Nice Piece of Grind - 89%

MelodicStorm, September 20th, 2008

Venereal Disease come from a part of the metal world not really known for there grind. Especially considering a low down immense gore infested rampage that any of us would endure in. This band has really come through the ranks in recent years and has finally done an album that can truly make them expand into the scene further.

As a Goregrind lover and a gore-infested lyric fanatic - I, in all my glory, love this band, after picking this up accidentally on a merchandise website for a mere 4 pounds. I have realised this was actually a pretty good album to have that one mad moment of its Venereal Disease! Except it was not and this is what I got for it.

I got an immense carnage, after the intro which is just a Spanish quote from a film that I can picture but cannot name, of guttural screaming horror with simplistic but effective chord work on the guitars and a blasting apocalyptic rampage of drum work. It is really just a simple equation of success in creativity.

The album has notable covers as well off Delirium Tremens, Ruido de Rabin and Radikal H.C. which are precise to the bone to boundaries of course and changed to their style a little. The album is really well produced with every sound capturing that all important atmosphere and the start, middle and end well foreseen – as the starting quote starts the mayhem then a long quote from the theatrical trailer 'Make Them Die Slowly' at the end which finishes the epic production and continuity of Venereal Disease’s album 'Mondo Macabro'.
