Dor-nu-Fauglith

Osculum Infame, a pretty unknown band... Many people only heard about them and many did not hear anything... The main thing is that Osculum Infame released through Dor-Nu-Fauglith a symbol of warm, complex and beautiful black metal, along with bands like Belenos, Necromantia or Varathron.
The keyboards have a dominant role in these compositions, a thing which would scare at first a lot of the self-proclaimed kvltists, but they added a lot of flavor to the music. Many bands tried to achieve the medieval, impressive, sincere sound that was achieved by Osculum Infame, but they failed (Dimmu, pass me some cheese). The keyboards flow perfectly, and give no impression that the guy behind is smashing his brains to make them sound perfect. The guitar sound is less rooted in black metal aesthetics, I mean that you are not going to find slashing chords on this album, but the riffs are really good, never too monotonous, and simply epic, clean guitar is mixed with the heavy one. Everything is mild and not intended to be as fast and raw as possible. This is proven by the drumming too. Man, Malkhira was a damn good drummer. He never transformed into a blastbeat dope and also never turned into a doomy snail. This is what I appreciate a lot. Different beats are found: march, heavy rocking stuff, and the blastbeats too. All this triumph of craft and musicianship is leaded towards victory by Vlad Drakul, a true beast. He has a great screaming and snarling style. You got to hear him by yourself.
The song structures are a bit rigid, and they strongly remind me of the technique of Mjolnir: they put on a great part and play it until it sticks into your brain, changing it after several minutes. Not perfect here, but close.
Do not forget the key word: masterpiece. I am really pissed off that Osculum Infame do not meet again to give the modern sounding black fags a lesson with this (too bad that they entered the mediocre camp with The Black Theology).
