Legion ov Revenge

This is the solo-project of Shadow from Black Altar, with 8 epic, war anthems. From the very beginning of the album, you have a sense of war with the opening instrumental track which almost mimics a marching army. The next track unleashes the sheer brutality that this album offers. The thrashing guitars and the furious drumming mixed with harsh, raw vocals definitely add to the war and battlefield-like atmosphere. The instrumentals are good, too; they really calm things down but without losing the feeling of the album, with the marching and gun-shot sounds.

This is a very good album, the brutality and power don't let up, apart from the instrumental tracks. I particularly enjoy the screeching vocals which really emphasize the theme of war on the whole album. All the songs are really emphatic and have epic qualities to them. Of course there are a few weak moments, 'Achtung, Untermenschen!' strikes me as the least immpressive song, other than that all are very good and this is a very impressive effort.
