Gadget - The Funeral March - 100%

Before you get all crazy about the 100 score and thinking that a grind band cant receive a 100. And that Grind bands are only capable of playing as fast as humanly possible and screaming political ideals into the microphone, listen to this CD.

This CD is by far one of the heaviest CD’s I’ve ever heard. Yes, Gadget is a grindcore band, and yes they stick to the usual grind formula of playing hyperfast music with soaring vocals that of a serial killer. But this CD also includes something new to the grind scene excluding Pig Destroyer, that being technicality. This CD has some amazing guitar work on it. It ranges from super fast battery of the ears, to slow, sludgy, riffs, to even guitar solos reminiscent of Trey’s guitar works on Morbid Angel’s “Formulas Fatal To The Flesh” album. This CD will really stick to its listener.

It contains 17 tracks that surprisingly aren’t the normal 20 seconds of grind but actual average metal length songs. In these 17 devastating tracks are some wonderful guitar works. The drums of this album are fast, technical, and very awe-inspiring like Pig Destroyer’s drumming on “Terrifyer”.

But in my opinion the thing that will keep you enjoying the CD is the range of the singers voice. He can switch from Pig Destroyer-style screams of insanity, to deep gurgles of Nasum and Napalm Death, to just pure hateful growls reminiscent of death metal greats Nile.

Above all I recommend this CD highly to fans of all ranges of the heaviest of Metal. No crappy metalcore/hardcore breakdowns that will keep you wanting to hurt yourself. No, this CD is true to the Metal scene and has no signs of ever wanting to please anybody else. So what are you waiting for? Relapse put this insane album out for you to get!
