Sun Descends - Incinerating the Meek

Smells like Exumer... so what?! - 70%

opes, February 3rd, 2006

When Exumer got back for Wacken 2001, I hoped that guys would stay together for a while and record a new longplay. It was impossible, because Mem V. Stein returned to NY... and founded a new band - Sun Descends. He fronted for many bands, inluding hardcore and rapmetal, but finnaly got back to his roots.

One might say that if you want to review a CD, don't compare it to previous releases of band members. It's simply impossible with this one! When I'm listening to 'Incinerating the meek' I feel as it is the one and the only continuation of 'Possessed By Fire'. I don't underrate the second Exumer release, it may be even better than the debut. But the problem is in my case, that 'Reising form the Sea' does not sound like Exumer at all. It's Mem who gave Exumer its original sound and this characteristic feature, that you would never confuse it with another band. And now he released after many an album which was long awaited for.

The music is nothing innovative and original and I don't want it to be different! This album completely meets all of my expectations, it's raw, it's simple, it gets my head bang itself, it feeds me with scratchy drilling riffs and solos, it's THRASH! So if you are into oldschool German thrash try to get this one, great continuation of what was happening in late 80s back in central Europe.
