Hi this is my first post.

Please feel free to offer up some comments about this song I wrote. The drums are programmed, and I am more of a classical guitar player than an electric player(I just started getting serious with electric about 3 months ago, but I have been playing acoustic most of my life), so there is a lot of that.

It is death metal, so the old school Pestilence-type vocals may turn you off, be warned.

Influences: Cynic, Obscura, Dark Tranquillity, Death, and a lot of Bach, Telemann and other baroque-era composers.

Well I shan't go into complications, but my computer prevents me from loading your song. If you have an MP3 and are willing to email it to me, I'd appreciate that and would gladly review it.

I must say that I like it very much. Just don't loose the acoustic guitar feeling you're putting on it.
I don't think you're playing death, but some king of progressive with extreme tendencies.
About the vocals, they sound ok.

I guess it just needs good production to be a wonderful song.

Thanks for the replies. Anything specifically that sounds off about it to anyone? I was worried that the drums may be too loud.
I definitely intend to keep the fingerstyle acoustic guitar as a main component, though it seems to be somewhat difficult to integrate it into the heaviest parts.

I like the composition, but I think the vocals need a lot of work. The volume of the drums seems to be alright.

Very good song, it sounds really interestedly with the acoustic guitar.
I also like the structure of this song. It reminds me of Swedish band Tristitia a little.
I have nothing to rebuke.

I am considering overhauling the vocals as a more Arsis-type high screech thing. I was going for a Martin Van Drunen early Pestilence vibe but the more I listen the less I feel I hit that mark.
As far as the clean vocals go, they sound ok right?

I'd suggest putting some more reverb on the clean vocal tracks.

As far as the song goes, it's definitely interesting and original. Far better than most stuff that gets posted here. Your guitar skills are impeccable. Good stuff.

Redid the vocals last night, will be a couple of days before I get it mixed/mastered though.

I am taking these suggestions to heart. I'm going to try some delay on the clean vocals, because I am fairly anti-reverb if I can get away with it. I was in a goth band in the 90's and they drowned everything in verb and I just have developed a hatred for the sound of flagrant reverb abuse, so it's a last resort effect for me.

Really nice, but the vocals are what they are, didn't like them very much. And that acoustic in the intro was good.

No need to drown the vocals in reverb, but it needn't be a last resort either. Just add a splash of it to prevent them from becoming too dry.

OK vocals are pretty much completely re-written including lyrics and re-recorded.

It's still not perfect but I think it's better now.

Let me know what you think.

I honestly liked the original vocals better, but they probably don't fit this kind of stuff. It was pretty solid, except for that intro thing that just seemed ridiculous and cheesy.

I'm not usually one to go for that sort of thing, but I was definitely impressed. The riffs were cool, but the classical guitar added a layer of originality that definitely makes it a unique sound.

I get the effect you're going for with the clean vocals, but I think you need to do some multitracked pitch-shifted dubs in there to fill out that choir a bit more. That, or find yourself a local chamber choir and see if they can give you a hand. As it is, it just sounds like two or three tracks.

It is just three tracks. That's all I was going for. I didn't want it to sound like a choir, I wanted it to sound robotic, so I just sang fifths and used an extra voice in the bass to give it a stereo effect.

Anyways I'm working on a new track now, I need some space from this one. Can't promise it will be done soon though. I work pretty slowly.

Fuck, the guitar is awesome. Really nice riffs, awesome acoustic arpeggios.

As it happens, I'm a classical player myself, and also love baroque music, so I can definately appreciate the acoustic sections. The only thing is the vocals, the clean vocals are alright, but I think you need to make the screams a lot more harsh and abrasive. Arsis style would be cool.

Also, although the drums are good, a human drummer would be able to add a lot of feel to the song.

Keep it up bro, hope to see an album from you soon.

Wow, pretty crazy, the acoustic guitar is integrated really well. As much as I love Pestilence, the new vocals seem to fit much, much better.

Wow, the introduction was really, really tight. I listened to it about 5 times, it is super good.

I did not like the clean vocals at all, but the growls were nice. I did not like the lower growls, however, I only liked them when they were mixed with the higher ranged screams. Overall, I say 7/10. I liked the outro as well, this was really catchy!
