Our friend from Honduras is back as "Blood_Red_Throne"

he updated Garrotte (DNK) with formation date "2008"

I see no proof anywhere that the band really formed in 2008

Not to derail the thread or anything, but how on earth do you guys do this sort of investigating? For example, how do you keep track of when people gain a lot of points or update band pages? I realize that on the home page you can see recent updates and if there are a bunch in a row that are alphabetical, for instance, that'd be a red flag, but man. How do you know that it's the same Honduran guy if you can't see his IP unless you're a mod?

I'm just curious is all.

The Hondurian guy isn't very smart, he uses similar mail adresses every time and is easily distinguishable. Zorg has always a sharp sight, though ;)

Noticed a ton of images I posted for bands like W.A.S.P. have been deleted(?). This seems to be more of a crash / cache (?) fault, not a mod going around deleting them. Any way to retrieve it, or do I have to edit them all back in and thus get more points needlessly? I'm also getting a debug error every time I post quite often now, which tells me the system is having its monthly issues.

I noticed this to. I asked about this. And yesterday HellBlazer asked about pics "Are the pics OK now?" - so probably he is doing something with this.
Covers added, changed in end of October/early November are, probably, lost.
I hope they will be back on MA...

user "Ynnath" is going through a lot of bands from Ecuador and Paraguay and add shitty notes in albums

ex: Thy Grief demo "Symphonic Black / Doom Metal from the capital of Ecuador (Quito)."

User 'Extreminal' http://www.metal-archives.com/userprofi ... Extreminal

Adding links to extreminal.com interviews under fan sites:
Darkest Hour: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3484
The Red Chord: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=2781
Dark Funeral: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=669

Lustmord: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540267446
Evil Shepherd: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540267228

and likely quite a few more, these are just a few bands that I searched from that site's most recent interviews.

Ynnath keeps adding shit on various Peruvian bands

He just gained around 15 pts on Satan (per) page and see what he added in the notes

Satan (Per) - Svastika

recorded in the Label: Evil Production on 2005

"Satan (Per) - Arcana "demo

LABEL: Evil Production
Year: 2005

it's already mentionned in release date and label section

I have noticed a lot of erroneous links labeled as "fan sites", primarily to Wikipedia, and to single reviews on a site called "Satan Stole My Teddybear" - I have been noticing a few SSMT links every week for the past month or so, and today I noticed and reported Wikipedia links under most major thrash bands. I have also seen a lot of "Official merchandise" links to Star500 and ROCKWORLDEAST, and most of the bands these sites are added for only have 1-2 things on the site, generally a shirt or patch or something small that can be found elsewhere (I'm not sure if these merch ones are considered point-whoring).
I don't know who has been adding these links, but they are generic, generally don't add anything, and are being added for huge numbers of bands, so it seems to be point-whoring that could be noticed/tracked.

who added this crappy stuff:
http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=255563
Should be deleted ... or maybe the person who added it was unaware of how to do it properly and should be contacted.

I'm assuming the majority of them have been added by kwellada.

http://www.metal-archives.com/board/vie ... 00#1347000
http://www.metal-archives.com/board/vie ... 18#1357218

As far as I know, he/she isn't adding them any more and have received their punishment. If they are for major (known) bands, they can be deleted.

Yesterday I've already asked Morri to purge all SSMT links.

oneyoudontknow: It was a band member who added it. I've told him how to correctly add a release (I wonder what's so difficult about it...).

4. Viraemia Alternate name/spelling(s): bubalu

I found the other band he updated. Twas, Opeth. For some (presently unknown) reason, he entered "bubali" instead of "bubalu". Removed. It appears he hasn't done this again, at least not yet.

I don't want to be the monkey with a banana split up my ass, but user pandaemon has been updating a ton of bands:

Scorpions
COB
Anathema
Arch Enemy
Ayreon
At The Gates
Dio
My Dying Bride
Queensryche
Moonspell
Behemoth

He has less than 500 points. MODS! TO THE RESCUE!

Same user as OzzyApu reported:

He's updated:
Mayhem
Cynic
Atheist
Dimmu Borgir
Cradle of Filth
Theatre of Tragedy
Emperor
Paradise Lost
Deicide

Sorry if the mods are aware of what he's doing right now.

EDIT: Sorry, thought Ozzy reported the user earlier than he did. My time settings are wrong. Apologies.

OG, did you talk to him yet or take away any points? This pandaemon guy has earned over 50 now adding these useless links and he's still continuing.

That nasty pandaemon guy has stopped, don't worry! ;)

Also MOST of those ~50 points were from my other reports and there is absolutely no problem if my SM points disappear, as I'll get a lot more with the help I'm going to give.

I understand now that the site wants more info and media prone links. But also SM has much info regarding the lyrics, especially the popular bands i added links too.

I'm going to continue the good work and the next time i will consider a link beneficial, I'll ask a staff member first. You're also a thoughtful moderator.

This user: http://metal-archives.com/userprofile.p ... =pandaemon

has been adding links to SongMeanings.net, a lyrics site, as "fan sites" for numerous bands:

Some of them (reporting as I find them)

http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=10
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=25
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=30
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=37
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=43
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=61
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=67
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=69
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=75
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=88
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=91
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=141
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=191
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=304
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=503
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=547

Most of the Norwegian black metal bands also have Wikipedia links despite the abundance of information on them.

edit: added more links, he is still gaining points

Errant "Fan Site" link to a lyrics site:
Iron Maiden @ SongMeanings

I learned my lesson yesterday: always ask before adding a site.

You also have something to learn. Always check the last messages on the topic before making a report (even the last 3 messages would've been ok) :P

And don't worry, all of the SM links will be removed by a mod very soon.

Cheers!

EDIT at your EDIT:
Quote:

You should calm down a little. How am i still gaining points if i haven't added SM links since I've talked with ogmetal?
