Seeing as how the last thread was locked due to the "No posts exist for this topic" and yet no one has stepped up to the plate to make the new one... Here I am. I am Omega and Alpha. I made the last post in one thread, and I'm making the first post in this one.

Taken from Morrigan's OP in the last thread:

Friendly guidelines, taken from Shutdown's suggestions*:
-Do not claim or dedicate pages of this thread. Not only is it a waste of 1 post in every 40, it also creates a rush to reach the next page.

-Do not whine about relationship problems. There are better places than this board.

-Do not start or participate in conversations of a sexual nature in a childish way. This includes discussing your masturbation habits as well as drooling over random pictures of teenage girls.

-Avoid constantly posting images (the occasional one is all right). This is not a picture thread. If you really want to show people several pictures then post a link to it instead.

-Do not post small one liners that serve no purpose other than to increase your post count.

Now... go!

[* Admin's edit: these guidelines may be friendly, but their violation may result in less friendly action. Behave.]

Huh, I win the bet. Thought I'd be in training by the time a new one was opened. Anyway, it's good to see this place maturing a bit more. Long gone are the days of, well, idiocy? Or am I dead wrong?

You took the initiative and stepped up to the plate to start a new one but hopefully you won't have to be called back to the dugout as the old one might be re-oppned once the bug gets fixed. Yeah, it's good to be back. It somehow just isn't the same without random tavern chatter in the metal archives.

Well, to be fair, this may only be Boardland 1.5... As far as I know, we're still on the backup server, and when we get back to normal... who knows what will happen? The bug may even show up here eventually. If that's the case, this thread may get locked. Or not. Don't know, made this anyways.

Interim random tavern chatter, if you will.

That strict list of rules sorta contradicts the notion of a "free-for-all."

It's like that episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where they decided to let "anything go" in the bar, but eventually had to lay down ground rules, and then just kicked everyone out because things were getting out of hand.

Hey, OzzyApu, I was promoted in November. You type in parade rest when responding to me!! Ha ha!

I just pulled it from the previous FFA thread's opening post. Morrigan is the one who typed it out. They're "strict" only to justify yelling at people who start whining about not getting laid and such. ;)

Also, I doubt the other FFA thread will wind up re-opened. I think they get locked at 500 pages anyways, and that one was nearly 90% there anyways.

I was about to do the very same thing yesterday and also attaching 'Provisional' to the title but thought better of it because I figured if another hadn't been started already then they probably had a good reason for not doing so.

Ah, I was looking for the FFA thread earlier so I could tell no one in particular that my packages from HHB and NWN! arrived today. There was an extra cd with the NWN! order, the first Terrorama full length. It was tucked so neatly between the cd cases that I have a hard time believing it was an accident, but the fact that it came as just a loose cd seems a bit suspect. Oh well, I guess.

Not another one of these just yet, please. If a new one is to be made, a mod or admin will do it.

So, seeing that FFA threads tend to die an early and violent death these days, is it decided yet what the next one is going to be called? We're through with Bathory albums. I know there have been discussions about this, but what's the result? Priest? Maiden? Manilla Road? Morbid Angel?

Snuff/Snus rocks. It looks as if I'm actually going to succeed in quitting smoking this time, with its help.

No, I think most of them get locked at 666 pages.

Only one has gotten that far. Bad, bad memories. They used to be locked at about 100 or so, or whenever they got particularly glitchy. It wasn't a big deal. It's just a general-purpose thread.

Thankyou, Morrigan. I do enjoy the FFA threads.

As for next FFA titles... I say Blind Guardian albums.

Ah, I see. I just noticed that one went that far, and I figured that it was the 'aim' to achieve before a new one is created.

Does anyone like Wongraven's album Fjelltronen? It's made by Satyr of Satyricon (also has Ihsahn and some others on it) and it's one hell of an ambient album.

I fucking love Fjelltronen. Such a disappointment he never released anything else as Wongraven. Had a lot of good ideas on that release.

Hahaha, Mikey, that rules.

I love Christian Bale. It does sound like the guy was being an idiot-the guy fucking walks on the set while he's trying to act. I'd be annoyed but he goes on for fucking ever. Pretty hilarious though I wish I could hear the other guy.

That works, too. Speaking of which, are they ever going to release anything new? I was actually one of the 20,000 who bought Heretic when it came out... fucking sucked.

They are supposed to put out a new album this year *thumbs crossed*. I personally love their general sound and aesthetic, even though Domination and Heretic basically sucked.

Turns out the cost to repair my car is almost equal to its value :(
Looks like I'm looking for a new car.

A friend just send me this clip. It's obscenely retarded but also very funny.

Behold the miracle which occurs when you combine Dimmu Borgir with the Teletubbies.

Hahahaha, it's so great when it slows down for that little keyboard break at 1:07. I love stupid shit like this. 1:30-1:50 works pretty well, too.

Great to have the FFA back. I second the notion on Blind Guardian albums for the next one, whenever that may be.

That sucks, man. I just had to get a "pink slip" for my car...basically an inspection before it can be registered again for this year. I was incredibly lucky because I thought the mechanic inspecting my car would find a hundred problems, but all he got me on was the windscreen wipers, which he changed for only $18. The windscreen itself has a massive crack in it, but you can't see it while driving, which I believe is the only reason I didn't have to hand over more hard-earned money to repair/replace the windscreen.

It's all paid for now, which cost me over $800, so that's all over for another year, depending if I get a new car or not. I think I will be. Haven't particularly decided what I'm going to get yet.

Now that the car rego has been paid, I can finally look towards increasing my CD collection! After buying nothing for a week or so, I'm ready to start purchasing some more. :D

Has anyone ever listened to Devil In The Kitchen's Wizard's Walk? It's very original, and great drinking music.

Yep, I've vouched for them a number of times in the Folk/Viking thread, especially when people are looking for happier folk metal. They are very interesting because they're unique in that they're American folk metal--the staple of which is the fiddle. I actually know the brother of the fiddle player, he goes to my school. I'm pretty sure they all go to Berklee.

Omnium Gathering's Redshift is really good. There's something about the atmosphere that just does it for me.

Very impressed by these new Candlemass samples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN0dsEzm ... twork.html

sounds a HELL of a lot better than King of the Grey Islands. Sounds like the best thing they've done in a long time! Can't wait.

Well, I went to the temping agency today, fearing the worst. It was shut due to the 7-inch thick snow (yes in the UK we have shit work ethic) so I've got to relive the sense of trepidation again tomorrow. Here's to hoping I don't pull the short straw with the kind of work I get thrown at me.

I like this man. He was a pretty straight-shooter in that rant. Allthough it will be seen by the paparazzi as him off his meds, I honestly think that that C mf'n B was not out of line on this. He is just tired of being PC and tired of not being surrounded by professionals. Pompous? Yes. But kudos, to you for your goliath nut sack Christian Bale. 'Cause god fucking knows that if you do shit like this when there are recorders around, your super-star facade has a peircing and you are now know as a wingnut.
