Ugh, this is kind of hard to describe. I'll just toss the names "Parnassus" and "Spite Extreme Wing" around. Hopefully that'll be enough to go on for people who know these bands.

I might derail the thread a bit here, but are there any Stalinist bands? I can understand that it might not fit in with the individualist themes of black metal, but then - National Socialism doesn't either.

Stalinist bands, I do not know. But communist bands, yep there is. Some call it CBM or RABM. Though the latter do not fit your request, because RABM bands are not totalitarian.

For example of CBM: http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=219400
Мракобесие are also considered CBM, though they are not on the archives.
Same with Asmodeus Ex Machine.

RABM? I take it that means Red Army black metal? I'm quite suprised that Stalinism ahsn't een picked up on really, as I can just see some Russian teenager writing a song called 'Get in the Gulags you fucking dissentor!'

No, RABM means "Red (and/or) Anarchist Black Metal". This is why I said that RABM bands are not totalitarian and thus do not fit your request of Stalinist/Totalitarian communists bands.

Oh okay, I was mainly looking for leftist lyrics, and I figured that the extreme nature of black metal would yeild more far left and authortarian bands than it would more centrist, merely anti-capitalist bands.

The band mention above, NKVD, might count as this. I don't know a whole lot about the band, but they do take their name from a police organization of the Soviet Union.

Not a politic band, check your facts before posting (no offence).
Tracklist and cover, might answer you.

My bad. I got no results because I often use a plugin to search on metal-archives, and I get no result with it for Мракобесие.

Drottnar?

/avoids flying debris

No, really, I love these guys, and their album "Welterwerk" sounds very totalitarian.

Good album, but definitely not what I'd call 'totalitarian' sounding.

How about you think before posting? I was pretty much asking for non-political bands.

Well, you're pretty much served, since this one is not politic.

The album sounds fairly oppressive IMO. Perhaps I think totalitarian due to their uniforms and their on-stage presence.

Well, I don't know any totalitarian but non NS or communistic BM band, but I want only to correct what you said about NKVD - they were not main police organization of USSR (only the small part of it was "normal" police called мили́ция - Militia), NKVD was mainly a secret political police, made only to hunt "enemies of the people and communism". It was organization equal to the Nazi Gestapo.

He didn't say it was the main one, just that it was one, which you agreed with.

Hey Entil, out of interest, have you heard the first Paranassus demo? A lot of people seem to pass that one up, and it's definitely their (his) best work.
