So, I just finished watching an episode of "Gangland" on the History Channel and I noticed that in one of the pictures they showed of the "Tiny Rascals" two of the five gang members in the picture were sporting the same Suicidal Tendencies hats. Also, in a videoclip, a gang member standing in the backround of a beating had a Suicidal Tendencies white t-shirt on. Odd... Does Suicidal Tendencies have anything to do with that gang? I just found it very odd that there were pics of the gang members with ST merch on lol. Anyone know anything about this? I know that maybe they are just fans, but Im wondering if theres more than thatl

**SOme more info: the "Tiny Rascals" also known as "TRG" are from Sacremento California. They origionated as an all-Cambodian gang. Maybe that will help?

I saw that same episode. I'm pretty sure that Suicidal doesn't have any direct connection to that gang. It's possible that the gang has incorporated some elements from ST's image, the way other gangs incorporated things from the the Oakland Raiders and Chicago White Sox colors and logos. Suicidal has long been rumored to have gang connections (the Crips was always the name tossed around), but I think that stemmed largely from their image and the racial make-up of their early fans. I remember an interview with Mike Muir from the late '80s or early '90s where he was asked about the gang allegations and he called it bullshit and racially-inspired.

i saw the episode. it is a known fact but not often admitted that there are gang members that are into heavy metal. it seems like it just falls into a stereo type that all gang members are into rap,hip pop, ect....

I recall looking at a photojournalist's work on the KKK and seeing both Marduk and Burzum shirts.

The Burzum shirts aren't really surprising.

The episode with the Bathory cd was called "Hate Nation" I do believe.

I can see why white power groups would listen to Marduk. They are often mistaken as Nazi due to some of their lyrical themes, such as on the Panzer Division album and others. I jammed with a guy who claimed they were full on NSBM because of the imagery and some lyrics.

ST and gangs go hand and hand mainly because of STs image.

Yeah, I figured it was mainly image. I mean, it did look pretty sweet on them gangsters lol.

But as for the White supremacy thing, that pisses me off. As much as I want to say I like Burzum and other bands like that I cant because they have Nazi/ KKK association, meaning members from those groups sport their stuff and whatnot. But at the same time, Im sure there are white supremacists who listen to Justin Beiber like all the other 12 year old girls in america lol.

Wasn't there a guy wearing a Bathory shirt in the MS-13 episode? Also, MS-13 uses the devil horns, and the first generation members are really into Black Sabbath.

Yes, the "Sui" image was associated with gangs back in the day, mostly due to Mike Muir and his dress. You can clearly see it on releases such as "How Will I Laugh". For some reason, some gangs really took to Suicidal Tendencies.

I happened to see the band in L.A. (Irvine) in 1990 with Exodus and Pantera (Cowboys tour). Prior to that, Suicidal Tendencies was banned from playing in L.A. for six years for suspected "gang relations".
