..or whatever that fake funeral doom band was.

Found out about this band:

http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=124385

"Voj", a funeral doom band from russia. Who released an EP.. in 1991. The page says it sounds like early Samael and Mordor; I think it's just straightforward funeral doom. With extremely good production, might I add, for what would've been a hopelessly obscure bit of music.

The album (which is easy enough to blogspot) is actually somewhat decent, whether it's fake or not it's solid enough. Can any russians shed any light on this? They have a link to an interview in russian on their page- I'm genuinely curious. This is probably the earliest proper funeral doom release, if it's actually genuine. Currently, I don't think it is.. but I'm interested if anyone can say otherwise.

Also, piss off, I'm reviewing this for the virgin challenge

Have you heard the demo that's listed in the additional notes?

Anyway, if this thread garners the kind of attention the Flittering thread did, I imagine we'll soon have the input of people from the tape trading scene of that time period who would be able to weigh in on it, plus interwebs gurus who will be able to track down email addresses and IP's and whatnot. I suspect it's probably fake, not even having heard it yet.

I'm listening to it now; it does sound sem-oldskool in terms of production; it also sounds pretty crap.

No, I've only got the other demo. I'll have a look for that one and get back to you all when/if I find it.
