Injury to Eye - Path Pathology Pathos

Not really "old-school" in the sense that this came out just six or so years ago, but the old-school aesthetic is definitely there with influence from Incantation, Autopsy, (especially) Disembowelment and such - basically really out-there doomy death/grind. Really, really good demo, the only thing they put out though unfortunately. I really like it :P

Stunning German Death Metal from 1994. Early Morgoth styled mayhemic stuff, no blast beats, just riffs riffs riffs ranging from slow to fast. Killer. Their MCD from 1997 was crap, but this CD is a jewel. Got the CD for 5,55 Euros off ebay two weeks ago.

This thread cannot be doomed to oblivion.

Most of you already know it, but it's worth mentioning anyway:

Though that's a black metal album...

True enough. Somehow, I get a Melodic Death feeling when I listen to this album, but it's probably just me...

Yeah a bit. Although I think this thread will die anyway because there's only so many classics out there worth mentioning.

Sure thing.

You guys should also check out Demigod's 'Slumber of Sullen Eyes.'

This is one of the best death metal albums I've heard. Fast thick-sounding riffs and great vocals too. Their material after this album doesn't even compare.

I can't remember the band name, but the cover art showed pillars in the background - like you were looking from a vantage point. There were a lot of dark colors, mainly purple and black. It was a mid-90s release, if I remember - anyone know the album I'm talking about?

Necrophobic maybe?

No, I have that album and love it + the artwork.

No this one had pillars in the distance, like large pillars in this barren land. It was definitely purple-ish, but the band was more obscure. Band name might start with a "b" or "d" if I'm correct.

This release perhaps: http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=8875 ?

Not purple-ish, but it fits the other criteria.

It fits the criteria a little more, but the cover definitely was definitely on the purple spectrum of colors. It also was more hand-drawn / artwork reminiscent of Seagrave. I haven't seen it on his website so I'm not sure that it's his specifically.

Wait... found it. It was a Seagrave piece, but it wasn't presented no his website (found it on wikipedia).

Resurrection (US) - Embalmed Existence - 1993

Doesn't look like it has quite a following or positive score like most old-school recs.

Definitely my favorite Seagrave artwork, and that's saying a lot. My bad on not specifying hard enough and throwing people off with the band name.
