Does anybody know of bands or specific songs that have breakdowns with huge gaps of silence in them? More so than the average breakdown ex. Chugga chug.................................................................................................................................. chug chug.................................................................................................................................. chigga chug..................................................................................................

I need this for a short film type thing i'm working on and help would be appreciated.
thanks!

Not metal, but ever hear KISS KISS BANG BANG by Specimen? There is a break in the end of the song before the last chorus that is about 8 seconds long.

There's a song on Mayhem's "Grand Declaration of War". Don't quite remember which though, one of the latter ones on the album.

If I remember correctly there's an Emmure song that does that, except with china cymbal hits during the pause to keep time. It's really obnoxious. I don't remember the name of the tune.

I'm sure there's a lot of -core songs that have it.

Also be careful of copyright laws if you plan on publishing said short film

I appreciate the concern but I should call it a "video for my jackass friends and I" Film is a bit of a stretch haha, definetly not publishing this one.

I wish you did remember, that sounds perfect. Although, Emmure blows.

Indeed they do. My friends and I used to see them play in really shitty bars all the time back when they were a bunch of nobodies, so it's really funny to me to see them act all tough and arrogant in their videos. I never understood how they got so popular.

You'll find a lot of that if you search youtube for "10 most brutal breakdowns". I don't know why you'd want to subject yourself to that sort of thing though.

Funny that you should mention that. My Brother and I used that video as a model when we were making our "Brn00dle Flute Breakdown" for our comedic MIDI project.

Haha, that kind of thing pisses me off too but then I just remember that bands like that, and even genres like that, won't last. The metal world is flooded with bands right now and sooner or later all the shit will be washed away... of course only to be replaced with new and shittier shit.

That's also a band to look at if you're looking for just some weirdly shaped breakdowns.

Arsonists Get All the Girls played with A Life Once Lost some time ago. They played a song that was an ultra slow breakdown. People who were hardcore dancing were all confused and shit... because hardcore dancing is still a dance to a particular rhythm, it was too slow for them. It was a lot slower than the Beneath the Massacre breakdown, but about the same riff.

So, I don't think breakdowns that you are describing are particularly common in the core world.

Close... I'm not sure exactly what to ask for, but I'll know it when I hear it.
