At the beginning of November I was really into Heavens Gate, specifically Hell for Sale! and Planet E. Both quite different from each other, one more easy going, humorous and uplifting and the other more serious, progressive and ambitious, I've enjoyed it a lot.

I've also been playing Stratovarius, specifically Nemesis, and Unbrekeable has been by far my most listened song of the month, I simply adore that song and it's incredibly catchy, the keyboards gives me chills.

And these last few days I've been quite into Nifelheim's debut, there's something extremely satisfying about having guitars showing such a technical side in the middle of such direct and aggressive songs.

I remember listening to Nemesis a lot during November-December last year, closing the school year. Very energetic and feel-good album

Much of December has been spent listening to various 2023 top 10 material, yet a few albums that have stood out when I've had time off have been:
Falkenbach - ...En Their Medh Riki Fara...
Falkenbach - ...Magni Blandinn Ok Megintíri...
Katharsis - VVorldVVithoutEnd

I hadn't heard anything from Falkenbach before, and I loved their viking/doom metal approach with touches of black metal Bathory-like plus Summoning-like keyboards.

And the Katharsis album is simply a monumental piece of raw black metal, to call it a "Darkthrone clone" is disrespectful to the incredible compositions they perform on this album, I will probably listen to it a lot this january as well.

For some reason, I keep coming back to Marduk - World Downfall this month. Been on a Marduk kick in general.

I think you meant 'World Funeral'. 'World Downfall' is a Terrorizer album from 1989. Both are great though.

I have been bouncing around quite a bit recently due to the poll rush but,
Definitely:
Sorrow- Death of Sorrow
& Ice Giant- Ghost of Humanity
They have been in daily rotation for me this month.

Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle

I found out about them in the best 2023 albums thread and I've been listening to this one a lot. It's one of those albums where you find new nuances and sounds with every listen.

Ironsword - Underground EP. I was listening to tons of the best of 23 but this one I must have listened to more than anything else.

I've been getting into the Greek black metal scene after overlooking it for the longest time, so I've been listening to a lot of Varathron and Necromantia, in particular the first two albums from each band. His Majesty at the Swamp may be my favorite so far, I love the doom/classic heavy metal influence.

January has not been a month for me with great discoveries or rediscoveries, nor one in which I have listened to a lot of music in general, the most listened to by me have been mainly comfort releases along with a period of obsession with the Kai Hansen era of Helloween.

Helloween - Helloween(EP)
Helloween - Judas
Heavens Gate - Hell for Sale!
Tank - Honour & Blood

Hell for Sale! is on its way to becoming one of my favorite power metal albums of all time and Honour & Blood continues to hold its own as my favorite Tank release.

Playing Neurosis albums and Gorguts' Obscura has been a good headfucking to kick off the year. On the lighter side I've been playing the new Sleater-Kinney and New Model Army (both likely to be on my year end list already... stellar!) in the mornings along with John Coltrane's A Love Supreme a lot of the time. It's good variety.

The metal album I listened to the most in January was Hauntologist's album "Hollow", but it wasn't actually released. (It was there and then got pulled).

So in terms of actually released albums, I guess it would either be the EP From Ius Ad Bellum, or Svdestada.

Last month it was mostly:

Kingdom Come - Hands of Time
Body Count - Bloodlust
Heavy Load - Riders of the Ancient Storm
Quartz - On the Edge of No Tomorrow

I think I've bought some good albums lately.

I have been listening intensely to The Vision Bleak - Weird Tales: because it is so good to listen to and because I wanted to get my review of it out as soon as I could.

I also have had the soundtrack of The Fellowship of the Ring (extended edition, obviously) do overtime. Still hasn't aged a day.
