Wolfcry was born in September 1992 immediately after having to undergo a name change from Vanguard due to other bands owning rights to the name. Vanguard's first line-up included Andreas "The Wizard" Kourtidis, Stelios (guitars, vocals), Nick (guitars), and Billy (bass). They were interviewed in Internal Fear 'zine #1.
